“Get down!” Vordon’s shout came a second before he tackled Veronica to the floor. Glass shattered above them. The red dot on her phone jerked wildly as the screen slipped from her hand. A sharp crack echoed through the hallway. Gunshot. Viole screamed. Tyrus dragged her behind a marble pillar. Cassian moved fast, surprisingly fast, pulling a fallen chair into position as cover. Veronica’s ears rang. Her cheek pressed against the cold floor. Vordon’s body shielded hers completely. His weight was solid. Protective. Another shot hit the wall. “Sniper,” Tyrus muttered.
