Chapter Three Aldair sat at the dining room table, a bottle of wine he had found in a rack in the kitchen placed off to one side. He had worked through nearly half the bottle already, but he thought he would need far more alcohol than that to ease his roiling thoughts. The stray notion passed through his mind that perhaps he should conjure some food to go with the wine, although at the moment he did not feel himself inclined to do so. The silence from upstairs discomfited him.
