Chapter Fourteen We took the bike the northern route, across Canada, dropping back to the US in Maine, driving through the state until we were nearly at the border of Maine and New Hampshire. In a little hideaway village, we stopped at the outskirts, picked up a six-pack at the local grocery, and then headed into the country, stopping at the top of a ridgeline that looked out on a breathtaking landscape of forests. Just yards away down a small dirt road was a cabin sitting on a rise, appearing out of nowhere against the dense growth of green behind it. A few leaves whipped the air—autumn colored ones, prematurely grabbing at the wind, giving off the scent of the approaching season. My body replied with the sensuousness of fall so prevalent inside the air. It greeted me warmly, though,
