Chapter Four; Weekend away?

I woke up to my alarm going off. I needed to make Grace and I coffee so I can get her up. I know she will probably wanting to go home to change before headed into work. As I was making our cups of coffee, there was a knock at my door. I walked over to answer it, that’s where I saw Andrew, my neighbor.

“Hey man, what’s up?” I asked.

“Coffee?”

I smiled, “sure.”

I can’t just say no, I will have a quick cup with him before waking up Grace. He walked in, and I hand him a cup.

“Thanks.” He said with a big gin on his face.

“Why are you all smiles? Kinda creepy for you to be this happy in the morning.” I asked.

“Well if you must know, I had a date last night and it went well.”

“Oh yeah? How well?”

“Well we went out to eat, had a nice walk around the city and ended with a movie night at my house where she fell asleep in my arms. She ended up leaving in the middle of the night..”

Just then I realized something, Grace was saying last night that she ended up having a movie night at her dates place where she had fallen asleep. Then showed up at my place in the middle of the night. No it can’t be the same date.

“Wow, sounds like a good night. Did you kiss her at all?” I asked curious, because she said she didn’t kiss her date last night.

“No, she said she doesn’t kiss on the first dates. Which I’m respecting, I can get a gentleman you know. She agreed to a second date though so I must of did it right then.”

If she did go on at date with him, there’s no one in h*** she’s going on a second one.

“What she look like, man? She got good looks?” I said wonder if he would show me it was Grace.

“Yes she’s beautiful, and there’s no way that I’m not gonna show anyone her til I know it gonna go somewhere.” He replied.

Thinking to myself “well that’s strange.Next thing I know, I see Grace start walking out of my room, then notice she saw Andrew, and turned around to go back in the room fast.

“So how did you guys meet?” I asked him, having a strong feel I know the answer to this.

“Well my friend set us up, his girlfriend and her are best friends. We actually doubled dated last night.”

Bingo, I know for sure what’s going on now.

“Well man, I’m happy for you. But I have to start getting ready for work. I’ll talk to ya later.”

“Alright, see ya.” He said as he got up to leave.

I really didn’t like the fact that she went on date with him last night. I can’t be mad about it tho, it was my idea to date while being together. But she agreed to a second date? Are you serious? That’s not gonna happen. Plus the fact that he knew about her, he knew my feelings for her, he knew I wanted to be with her. That’s what makes the most angry, he knew all that and still agreed to go a date with her. Even if it was a blind date, he should of not agreed to a second date, when finding out who she was. I walked into my room, where I found Grace laying in bed.

“You really need to get up and head home so your not late for your second day. I’m not the only one that can fire you, so let’s not piss anyone off.” I said to her.

“What’s your problem?” She asked me.

“I don’t have one, you just need to get moving. You work for me, I don’t need any of my employees late, especially you. Gonna have to explain to your father why you were fired on your second day.”

“Then don’t fire me, I don’t understand why your acting like this.”

I think she knows but won’t say anything to be sure I know something, she saw Andrew in my place, she obviously knows we’re neighbors.

“Well Mia can sign the paper to fire you, or write you up. Yeah I have to sign them too but I usually don’t fight it if it’s a good reason.”

“He told you, didn’t he?”

“Told me what?”

“I don’t know why you are mad about this? I didn’t know who exactly he was til we went back to his place. I didn’t honestly know you guys were friends til this morning.”

“I’m not mad about the date, I’m mad at about the fact you agreed to a second date. We are only supposed to be going on dates. What gonna happen on this second date? He’s gonna kiss you, you gonna sleep in his bed this time? You’re mine, Grace. He knows I have feeling for you, he knows who you are to me besides the secret dating. I told him the day of your bbq at your house, he knew and he still went out with you.”

“I agreed to the second date before we went back to his place. I didn’t want to turn down his second date request after turning down his kiss. I didn’t want to be rude, when I was having a good time on my date. I enjoyed being treated like that and actually being to go on a date, I haven’t been on one since my ex took me well over a year ago.”

“Well I’m sorry, we have to do this in secret. I really am. I would love to take my girl out on a date, pamper her like she deserves. To be able to drive her home after we are together. Not have to hide you in my room when I have someone knock on my door.” I said to her as I walk up to her as she’s sitting on the end of my bed.

I put my hands on both sides of her face, and lean in to her to kiss her. I start to push her back so she in now laying on my bed and I’m on top of her, passionately kissing her. I wrap my arms around her, as I am still kissing her. That’s when I feel her hand trying to push me away.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I don’t want our first time to be after a fight. I want it to be romantic, I want it to be special. I am not gonna make you wait for it but I do want to feel special myself, I have thought about this moment before.” She said.

I agreed with her, I gave her one more kiss, before getting off of her.

“I have to get going so I’m not late for work. I’ll see you soon, love.” She said before walking out.

“See you soon, babe.”

I watched as she walked out of my room. I decided to hope in the shower and get ready myself. I decided before I head to work, I would go get her something. I know she likes to stop at Starbucks for coffee before work. She’s always been that way, I remember her always asking for money for Starbucks before school. He always had complained about how she waste so much of his money on Starbucks. I saw her with a cup yesterday too, so I will go get her gift card, so she can go get her own coffee today. I can’t be showing up with a coffee just for her that would look fishy. I got dress after my shower and headed out. I stopped by Starbucks, got myself a coffee, and her a gift card. I put more money on it so she can get her more then one drink. I added a little note in the gift card envelope, I am sorry for getting mad this morning. I want to pamper you as much as I can. Enjoy! :) I then put the amount that was on the card.

That’s when I headed out, I usually stop by my grandmother’s house to check her mail from the day before and make she doesn’t need anything before I head into work. Besides my mother, I’m all the family she gots. My parents moved across the country so I like to check up on her and make sure she’s ok.That’s what I did, she was all set, so I headed into the office.

As I walk out of the elevator I saw Grace at her desk, on the phone. There was no around her, so I say the envelope on her desk as I passed her then headed to my office. I had a meeting in about an half hour, so I needed to get ready for that. As I’m working, I hear my phone beep. I look over and I see it Grace.

Grace; Thank you for the gift card. I didn’t get to stop for coffee before work. You don’t have to buy me things to make me happy. I’m happy with you no matter how jealous you get. :)

Me: You’re welcome beautiful. It’s just hard hearing you go one dates with other men. I just want you all to myself. I will not stop buying you things, I like to spoil my girl :)

Just then my assistant informed that it’s time for my meeting. Also reminded me I have back to back meeting all day, so I headed to my meeting. After three meetings, I sent my assistant off for coffee. I needed to hand some paper to the front desk, which is perfect because I get to see Grace’s beautiful face. As I am walking up I can see she’s on the phone again, but doesn’t sound like she on the phone for work related, it sounds like she’s flirting. I ease drop before going totally up to her desk. I hear her say “Saturday night is perfect. Can’t wait to see you again too.” I am guessing she on the phone with Andrew planning our second date. I walked away forgetting why I even went up there in the first place.

I was kind of frustrated about the fact they are planning their second date. I need to find out away for her not to go. But I can’t do that, I need to stop being so jealous. At the end of the day, she’s in my arms. At the end of the day, she’s mine. She will be probably going on one more date with him. That’s when there was a knock at my door,

“Come in.” I said.

That’s when two of my employees walk in, Alex and Phil.

“What’s up guys?” I asked.

“So one of us has to go one the business trip this weekend. Problem is both of us can’t go.” Phil said.

I give them the look of really? This is your guys job.

“What’s the reasoning?”

“My girlfriend is pregnant and is due to have our baby any day now. I don’t mind working cause her mom is there with her, and she can call me if she goes into labor. But I don’t want to be on a trip when she does.” Alex said.

I look over to Phil for his reasoning,

“My little brother is getting married this weekend. I’m his best man. I can’t miss this weekend. I even put in that I can’t work this exact weekend.”

“Ok for one, I’ll go this weekend. It’s not a problem, but Alex if your girlfriend doesn’t have the baby by Saturday then you need to take next week off. Be there for her.” I replied.

He nodded his head before they both walked out. My assistant walked in right after and handed me my coffee, I thanked her before she walked out. When I look a drink of it, it burned my tongue. I decided I was gonna go get a couple ice cubes from the break room. As I was walking towards the break room, I saw Grace with a flower arrangement in front of her as she’s smelling them. She had the card in her hand, I don’t know who they are from but I have one guess. That’s when it hit me, I can invite her on the trip with me this weekend. We will be able to go on a date and just spend the weekend together, when I’m not working. I can pay for her to go to a spa while I’m working.

That’s when I went back to my office and booked two tickets to Florida this weekend. I booked them with my own credit card, so no one could see I booked two flights with the company’s card. I decided to text her, but when I picked up my phone I send I already had a text from her.

Grace: Before you come out of your office, and see what I have, please don’t get angry. Andrew sent me flowers to work. I don’t want to throw them out, they are beautiful.

Lucas; Don’t worry I’m not mad, I promise. I won’t be mad if keep them to. But before you leave her tonight can you come to my office, I have a surprise for you. I will be here late.

Grace: Will do :)

I smiled at the text, hoping this plan will work and she will go with me. I had two more meetings today then I had some work I needed to work on. After both my meetings, my assistant let me know there was a gentlemen on line 2 for me. When I answered the call, it was Michael.

“Hey I was wondering if you wanted to come over tomorrow tonight for dinner? I am making steaks on the grill. My son will home from college l til after the weekend, so we figured we have a big dinner tomorrow tonight.”

“Oh, sure, yeah I’ll be there. What time?”

“We’re thinking 6. I don’t know if Grace will be here, I think she found a new boyfriend, she’s been spending her time at work and with him the last couple days. You’ve probably seen her more then I have.” He said laughing.

I laughed back, I mean he’s not lying. She’s been with me the last couple of nights plus at work.

“Well I’ll see you tomorrow night.” He said before we hung up.

It’s hard to lie to my best friend, but if he found out I was dating his daughter, he would kill me. I mean, I guess if we do have a future we can’t hide it forever. I got back to work not trying to think about that. Before I knew it, it was 8 and I didn’t even realize until Grace knocked on my door.

“What time is it?” I said before looking at my watch.

“Are you gonna be here all night?” She asked me.

“I got a few more things to do before heading home.”

She then closed the door, before walking over to sit on my lap to kiss me. I kissed her back of course, she leaned away a little bit.

“So? What’s up?” She asked.

I opened the drawer and handed her a piece of paper out of it. She looked at it and look a little confused.

“Why do you have a ticket to Florida for?” She asked.

“I have a business trip this weekend. I only have to work Saturday and not even the whole day, so I booked it for Friday evening, and this is your ticket so you can go with me! Whatcha say? We will stay down there til Sunday evening. Just you and I, baby.”

“So the full weekend, just you and me?” She said sounding excited.

“Yes. I can take you out on a date. We can do whatever you want. I even thought about paying for a spa day for you while I work.”

“You don’t have to. I’m just excited I can be with you all weekend, and we don’t have to hide it.” She said kissing me again.

“So that’s a yes?”

“Of course, I had plans this weekend but I will cancel them.” She said smiling.

“Ok. Perfect I can’t wait.”

“Me either. I am gonna head out of here. Don’t be here too late. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She said.

“So I take it your not coming over tonight?”

“I can’t. I guess my brother is coming home til the weekend, so I want to be home when he arrives. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Oh yeah about that. Your dad invited me cover tomorrow for dinner.”

“He did? This will be fun.” she said before walking out.

I am happy my plan worked, not only will see be with me all weekend, she won’t be able to see Andrew.
