The Relationship with My Dad’s Bestfriend

Chapter Three; First day of work and Date.

I was curling my hair, and doing my makeup before I was gonna get dress for my first day at my job. My phone had went off, when I looked down I saw it was Lucas. I didn’t know if I wanted to open it, because he didn’t talk to me at all yesterday, after leaving his apartment other then one text saying he would call me tonight. Then never called, after finishing my hair and make up I decided to answer his text, I guess I should since I have to see him all day today.

Lucas: Goodmorning beautiful :) I’m sorry I didn’t call last night, got in late. Good luck on your first day, your gonna do great. See you later.

I didn’t reply and just finished getting ready. I was nervous and excited at the same time. I headed out, as I was driving down the road I got another text from Lucas.

Lucas: You’re gonna have to talk to me sometime today. I’m sorry babe.

Is he really starting to call me babe. I decided to reply.

Me: I’m already nervous for today. We can talk later. See you later.

Lucas: Don’t be nervous, you’re gonna do great. My staff is the kindest people you’ll ever meet. I have faith in you beautiful.

I smiled at his text, as I pulled into the parking lot. I got out and headed inside. I was lost at first but someone directed me to the elevator and told what floor to go to. Once I was on the right floor, I walked up to the lady standing at the desk.

“Hi, I’m Gracelyn. I’m look for Mia.” I asked.

“Hi Gracelyn, I’m Mia. I will be showing your around today and helping you comfortable with around here on your first day.”

“Ok awesome. You can call me Grace by the way for short.”

I was there for a couple hours now, learning the ways, finding my way around this place. That’s when I saw him walk in, all handsome in his suit. I really do like that man in a suit. He noticed me starring at him, and smiled at me. As him and another man walked up to Mia and I, I looked away, so didn’t like to obvious I was starring at him.

“Welcome aboard, Grace. I hope Mia is being nice and training you good.” He said as he smiled at me.

“She’s fantastic.” I replied.

He smiled as he walked away..man this is gonna be a lot harder then i thought it was gonna be.

After another hour goes by, Mia left me alone to do my work. I didn’t need to be trained all day because I do know what I’m doing once I got a hang of their software and system. That’s when my phone beeped, I look at it and it was Lucas.

Lucas: I hope everything is going good for you today. By the way, I want to tell you, you look absolutely beautiful today. I love how I have a beautiful girl to look at while I’m working.

Me: Luke, stop. Dont make me blush while I’m working. But thank you. :)

Lucas: Anytime beautiful. This meeting is a dud, I rather be kissing you in my office. Speaking of, meet me in my office in about 25 minutes, this meeting will be over.

Me; Im not kissing you while we are working.

Lucas: Stubborn much? No, I want to talk to you about something. See you soon beautiful.

I was getting a little busy and forgot to meet Luke in his office. That’s when Mia came up to my desk,

“Mr. James would like to speak with you in his office.”

“Oh shout thanks.” I said smiling getting up to head to his office.

I walked up to the door of his office, and knocked on it.

“Hey, shut the door and have a seat.” He said to me.

I did what he asked, little confused what was going on.

“What’s up?” I asked.

He got up walked to the front of his desk, leaning on it, right in front of me.

“Listen, I hope your still not mad at me about yesterday. I figured I let you know before you found out from your parents. That’s breakfast they wanted me to go to them yesterday to meet someone, well they had me meet a lady name Carol. I guess, she’s like your cousin, in some way.”

“She’s not really my cousin, but my aunt basically raised her so she sorta is that way. But why?”

“It was a set up, they had us meet then we ended up spending the day together as a date. When your dad found out I broke up with Maddie, this last time, I guess he was searching for a set up for me so I didn’t go back. So that’s why I didn’t text you much or call. I didn’t want to be on my phone all day.”

“My cousin? Really? You went on a date with my cousin?”

“Listen we agreed we were gonna date around so no one finds out about us..”

“I know but my cousin?” I said upset.

“Don’t get upset, babe. I don’t plan on dating her anymore. We didn’t even kiss at the end out the night.” He said as he got closer to me.

“Ok thanks for telling me..” I said as I put a fake smile on my face and walked out his office.

I know we are gonna be dating other people while we’re sneaking around, but it’s weird and upset me that it’s my family..

I started working and taking phone calls when I phone beeps, I look at it, its from Lucas. I waited I was off the phone before picking up my phone, that’s when another text came in. It was from Abby, I opened it.

Abby: Hey girl, cancel whatever plans your have tonight. We are going on a double date tonight.

Me: With who?

Abby: With Matt’s friend. He’s your type too.

Me: What time?

Abby: I’ll be at your house around 6:30 and then guys will pick us up about 7. :)

Me: ***Thumbs up***

I got got busy again and forgot to open Luke’s message. When I saw him pass my desk with another man, that’s when I realized I never answered it. I went to open it.

Lucas. I hope your ok and not made at me. Why don’t you come over tonight and I’ll make you an amazing dinner.

Me: I can’t :( Apparently I have a double date tonight with Abby. Range check?

He never replied to me. I finished out my day, I was told I could leave on time today. It was my first day and I didn’t need to be over worked on my first day. That’s when I was gathering up my things when my phone beeped.

Lucas: Come to my office!!!!!

I picked up the rest of my stuff before headed to his office. I closed the door and took a seat.

“How was your first day? Do you like it here so far?” He asked me.

“It was great. I love it, it good to be back working. Surprisingly missed it.”

“Good. Now about this date tonight..”

“What about him?” I asked.

“Who he is?”

“I don’t know. Kinda a blind date with Abby’s boyfriend’s friend.”

“Well I already don’t like him.”

“Well that’s too damn bad. We agreed to date other people so no thanks it’s suspicious. I’m going on my date tonight.”

He leaned closer to me, where our lips were only inches apart.

“Ok, but after your date. Come back to my place. You’re mine after the this date.”

“We will have to see..I don’t how late my date it going to be..I might forget to come over.” I said in a Sarcastic as I got up and left..

As I was getting into my car, Lucas texted me.

Lucas: If you kiss your date tonight, I will do the same to the next date I have.

Me: Don’t worry, the only one I’m kissing goodnight is you :)

I figured that would get him to stop. I got in my car and headed home to get ready. I started curling my hair and doing my make up as I was listening to music. When I was almost done, that’s when I saw Abby walk into my room. I picked out my dark blue shinny jeans, white lacy crop top with my dark jean jacket. I put my vans on,

“Well hot damn, girl.” I hear Abby say. I laughed,

Before we knew it, it was a little after 7 and the door bell goes off. I grabbed my crossbody and we head downstairs and answer the door, where we find Matt with his very handsome friend. Abby wasn’t wrong when she said he was my type. I put my phone on silent and put my phone in my bag.

“Grace, meet Andrew. Andrew, meet Grace.” Matt said to us.

“Nice to meet you Andrew.” I said,

“Nice to meet you too, and can I just say wow, you look better in person then you do in your photos.”

“Oh gosh, what photos have she shown you.” I asked embarrassed.

“Don’t act embarrassed, just the picture on your dating profile and a few she showed me off your social media.” He said to me with a smile as he opened the back door of Matt’s car for me.

“My dating profile? I haven’t went on that since I created it. I’m not really into dating profiles.”

“Well that’s probably why you didn’t know we matched.”

“We did?”

“Yes you guys did. I went on to check it for you, cause I know you weren’t. And that’s when I notice Andrew matched with you. I told Matt, it would be a great set up and so here we are.” Abby said all excitedly.

As we drove to the restaurant, Andrew and I got to know each other. He seemed like a sweet charming guy. I was honestly excited even though I know this can’t go as far as a date. We arrived at the restaurant, and Andrew opened my door and helped me out. We got to our table, this was a nice fancy restaurant. They opened up about a year ago, so I haven’t had their food before. We ordered, and then Andrew started asking me more questions about my life. It was so sweet that he was so fascinated with my life, we got our food and ate.

At the end, Andrew paid for mine and his food, and we started walking out. He suggested we go on a walk around the city, since it was so nice out tonight. He grabbed my hand and we separated from Abby and Matt.

“You have such a beautiful smile.” He said to me.

“Thank you,” I said as I start blushing.

He was being a real gentleman, I tell you I haven’t felt this pampered since I first started dating Stephan. We walked around, talked and laughed. He stopped me, and turned me towards him, he put his arms around my waist and I could tell he was about to kiss me. As he was leaning in to kiss me, I had to stop him. I knew it would upset Lucas if he kissed me tonight. I didn’t know what to say to him.

“I’m sorry..I..I don’t usually kiss on the first date,” I said.

“That’s ok, I respect your boundaries. So how about a second date then? I had a great time with you tonight. I wanna see you again.” He said as he starred into my eyes, with that handsome smile of his.

“Yes, I would like that.” I said, knowing this can’t go any father then dates. A second date won’t hurt anything.

He grabbed my hand and we started walking back towards the restaurant. Abby and Matt met up with us. Matt suggested we got back to Andrews apartment to watch a movie, and hang out. I agreed and we headed that way. Before I knew it we were pulling into the parking garage of the same apartment complex as Lucas’s apartments. My heart started racing, I hope we don’t run into him going to Andrew’s apartment. Once again, Andrew grabbed the door for me and helped me out. Our hands intertwined as we walked to the elevator. I noticed he picked the same floor, as Lucas’s floor. I start panicking on the inside, as reached the floor I noticed that Andrew is Lucas actual neighbor. So they probably know each other. We walked to Andrews front door and he let us in. When he walked in, my nervous calmed down. Me and Abby sat on the couch while the guys got us something to drink.

“I hope you like wine, when my parents visited she brought two bottles and then left them here.” Andrew said as him and Matt handed us glass of wine.

“No, that’s perfect.” I said.

He then sat down next to me, and put his arm around me and he put on a movie. I started snuggle up next to him, and he seemed to enjoy it. Before I knew it I was falling asleep in his arms.

When I woke up, I was laying on the couch with a blanket over me, I noticed Abby, Matt and Andrew were not there. I got up grabbed my shoes and tip toed out of the apartment. When I got outside, I pulled my phone out and seen it was midnight. I texted Andrew real quick,

Me: Hey, thanks for an amazing date. Can’t wait for our next one :) I got an Uber home, I have to be up in the morning for work :) goodnight.

Then I called Lucas, hoping he was still awake so I didn’t have to actually take a Uber home. He picked up after two rings, and didn’t sound sleepy.

“Hey.” He said.

“Hey, I’m at your door can you open it?” I replied.

Next thing I know I hear the door unlocking after a couple of minutes. I walked in and he closed the door behind me.

“Why do you look like that?” He asked.

“Look like what?” I said confused.

“Like a bomb just went off on your face. Your make up and hair is all messed up..”

“I fell asleep on my dates couch, we all went back to watch a movie then I passed out. I woke up and came straight here.”

“How was your date?” He said not sounding jealous like he was earlier today.

“It was fine. I didn’t kiss him so don’t worry.” I said as I walk to the bathroom to take a shower. He got me a shirt and boxers again to put on. After my shower, I went to lay down with him in bed. Once again, fell asleep but in Lucas arms.
