The Relationship with My Dad’s Bestfriend

Chapter Five; I ain’t stupid.

The next couple days were long, for starters Lucas took Wednesday and Thursday off for personal days. So I haven’t seen him for a couple days. We’ve texted a little bit, but nothing to much. He said he had a family thing going on he needed to tend to. I am hoping he shows up tonight like he planned to, I do miss him. I just got home from work, and I’m freshening up for dinner. My brother, Elijah came home a couple nights ago. My dad usually puts on a big when we would come home to visit, and he had plans with some buddies yesterday so my dad decided to do it tonight.

Just then there was a knock at my door, I look over and it’s my brother.

“Hey there, sis.” He said as he walked into my room and started lounging on my bed.”

“What’s up?”

“So I’m sorry to hear about you and Stephan. But honestly glad it happen, I never liked him.”

“Oh really? That’s why he was like your best friend every time I brought him around?” I said laughing.

“You’re my big sister, I am going respect who ever you bring around for you. Now that’s doesn’t mean I won’t protect either.”

“Well it needed to be done. I’m honestly been happier since I got back.”

“You look happier, how’s that new job going? I heard you work for Luke.”

“It’s going great. I work with some good people.”

“That’s good. So on the real note why I am in here.”

I give a weird look.

“Who’s this guy you been seeing?”

“And, how do you know I’m seeing a new guy?”

“Mom and Dad think you are. So I’m curious.”

“Did they send you up here?” I asked while giving him a look.

“No, you know I wouldn’t do that to you. Now who is he?”

“It’s a new relationship. Honestly I can’t share too many details, but I am seeing someone I am just not sharing who yet.”

“Well are you least happy? I know you said you were already but honestly.”

“Yes, way happier then I been in a long time.”

“Good. Well Dad did send me up here to tell you dinner will probably be done in 30 minutes, and that Luke is here. I heard he broke up with that crazy woman, thank god.” He said rolling his eyes, laughing.

“Ok I’ll be down in a couple of minutes.” I replied.

I am excited that Luke did showed up. But sucks I can’t run up and kiss him. I finished what I was doing and I headed down stairs. When I walked in the kitchen Eli, my dad and Luke were talking about their golf games. My mom was pouring a glass wine,

“Mom, I’ll take one too.” I said, that’s when Luke turned his head and saw me. He smiled and winked at me before turning his head back around and continuing his conversion.

My mom handed me a glass of wine, then walked out to check the steaks. I heard her shout for a plate, my dad walked up and grabbed one. My dad and brother walked outside leaving Luke and i in the kitchen alone.

“Well hello there beautiful.” He said to me.

“Hey there. Is everything ok with your family?”

“Yes. But I missed you.” He said.

“Same. Work was long with you not being there.”

“Well I will be back tomorrow morning then it’s just you and me baby, all weekend.” He said as he winked at me.

That’s when the door opened, and my brother walked in. He walked up the fridge and grabbed a beer. He opened it and started drinking it.

“Since when did you start drinking? Especially with mom and dad around.”

“Well I’m in college now where there a lot of drinking. Plus dad just told me I could have one since I’m home. No different from mom letting you have wine when you come home from college.” He said to me.

“Want one, Luke?”

“Yeah I’ll take one.” He said as Eli handed him one.

I walked in the living room and sat on the couch as I drank my wine and scrolled through social media. After about 10 minutes, I jumped when I heard a voice walking up behind me.

“So you coming over tonight? He asked me as he sat down in the love seat.

“Probably not, I have to pack plus still be up early for work.”

“Well you could of pack yesterday then just took a change of clothes with you tonight so you could head to work.”

“Last night I spent time with my mom, I actually told her I was gonna visit a few friends Cali from College. That’s where I told her I was going this weekend.”

Before Luke could say anything else, We heard,

“Foods ready.” My dad said out loud.

We got up and went and sat at the dinner table. My parents sat at the ends like usual, my brother and I one side of the table then Luke on the other. We started eating when my dad started asking my brother questions.

“So son I heard from your mom you meant a girl? Tell us about her.”

“Her name is Annie, she’s a freshmen like me. We aren’t exactly dating yet, but I did ask her on date before I left and she agreed when I got back. She’s wonderful though.l

“Well that’s great, hope for best for you.” He replied.

“And Gracie?” He said giving me a look.

“Yeah?” I said.

“I know your seeing someone new. You went on a date a couple days ago. You brought those flowers home. Who is he? Tell us about him.”

That’s when I looked around the room at everyone including Luke, he was giving me a look that he wondering what I was gonna say.

“Well..I am seeing someone..nothing has happened yet. We’ve been one date.” I said.

“What’s his name?” My mom asked.

“Uh, Andrew..his name is Andrew.” I said as I looked at Luke. His face went from curious to a little bit angry looking.

We starting talking about Eli’s college, and my new job. My dad and Luke joke a few times. When we were finished, my dad and Luke went out to the garage to look at something. While my mom, eli and I cleaned up.

“Mom you did all the cooking, let us clean up. You go relax.” I said to her.

She hugged me and my brother then headed upstairs.

“So, it’s not a guy named Andrew, Is it?” He asked me like he knew something.

“What do you mean? I went on a date with Andrew earlier this week.”

“But that’s not who your dating,is it?”

“I don’t know what your talking about.” I said acting like I don’t understand what he was saying.

“Your seeing Luke. I know you are.”

I was shocked he knew.

“Seriously, what are you talking about?”

“I’m not blind, like mom and dad are. I know you used to have a crush on him. When you told me it was a secret then I told you Luke was here, your face lit up like a Christmas tree. You were hardcore smiling at him in the kitchen. I heard the end of your conversion when you were in the living. I asked dad while you two were coming in from the living room, if he knew Luke was busy for golf this weekend, and no surprise he isn’t because he’s going on a Work trip for the whole weekend. Then the big give away, when you said you were dating Andrew, I could see Luke was pi****.

“Ok, ok it’s true. But please don’t tell mom and dad. We are secretly seeing each other, but we going on dates to not draw suspicion. That’s why I went a date with Andrew earlier this week.”

“I won’t say anything but please be careful, sis.” He said to me.

“Thanks, your literally the only person that’s knows.”

“Secret safe with me.” He replied.

Just then my phone beeped I looked down and it’s from Lucas.

Lucas: Hey, go pack now. Your dad and I are working on this old truck of his. By time I leave, you can get in your car and meet me at my place tonight. It’s been two night without you, I want you tonight.

Lucas: oh bring your work clothes tomorrow, so you don’t have to leave to come get ready.

Me: You about to have me for two night, maybe Sunday night too.

Lucas: and I want you tonight too. So go pack.

I decided to just go pack and head to his place tonight. I went up stairs and packed, it felt like it look forever. But I’m the type of girl to pack extreme, you never know what you will need. But least I only used one suitcase. I looked at my phone and seen I had a text from Lucas 5 minutes ago.

Lucas: I’ll be leave in 10 minutes, see you soon beautiful :)

I smiled at my phone. I looked for something to wear tomorrow for work. After I packed my over night bag. I went downstairs, Luke was thanking my parents for invited him over for dinner. So I decided I would go put my bags in the back of my car. As I am walking back up to my from door, Luke walked out.

“See you soon, baby.” He said on the quiet side as he passed me.

I walked back in to my house, and went to grab my purse and phone upstairs. When I walked down, I told my mom I was heading out for the night.

“You probably won’t see me tomorrow before I leave for my trip. I’m gonna go hang out with some friends and probably crash at one their houses. So see you when I get back.” I said, as I hugged her.

“Ok. Have a safe trip. Call me when you land tomorrow. Love you.”

“Love you too.” I said as I walked out of the house.

I got in my car and texted Luke, that I was on my way.

When I got to his apartment, I parked and then headed to the elevator. As I was waiting for the elevator in the lobby, that’s when the doors open and I saw Andrew standing there. He smiled at me, as he walk towards me.

“ I didn’t expect to see you here.” He said to me.

“Oh yeah. Well I wanted to surprise you.” I said to him not know what to say or do.

“You actually caught me at a bad time, I am about to go out with my friends. I would cancel but this was my idea. But if you want you could come with me.”

“I don’t really feel like going out. I have to work in the morning, then I have that trip this weekend. So lets hang out next week or something?”

“Alright sounds good. I’ll text ya, have fun this weekend, safe trip.” He said as he walked to the elevator to the garage.

I acted like I was walking to the doors of the guest parking, where I saw him go into the elevator and it close, I headed back for the other elevator. I finally made it to the floor and knocked on Luke’s door.

When he answer, he let me in.

“You know you don’t have to knock on my door if it isn’t lock. It’s not like I knew you were coming over.” He said to me.

“But it makes me feel awkward walking in someone’s place that isn’t mine.” I replied.

“Well it’s not just someone’s apartment, it’s your boyfriends apartment so I give you full rights to do it.” He said as he walked up to me and kissed me.

“Oh I have missed those lips.” He added after he kissed me.

“And I missed yours.” I said.

“Well you gotta miss them a little bit long, cause I need just in the shower real quick.”

“What if I don’t have to miss them a little bit longer?”

“What are you saying?” He asked, knowing exactly where I was going with this as seen by the look on his face.

“We’re still not having s ex but what if I showered with you? One less thing I will have to do in the morning before work.”

He nodded my head as he grabbed my hand, and we went to take a shower. I started stripping down and he started looking me up and down,

“Like what you see?” I asked.

“Oh yeah, baby.”

I then jumped the down before him, he then got in with me. His shower was glass wall standing shower so there was plenty of room. He started kissing me as the water fell on us, he started rubbing his hands up and down my sides of my body. Having his body against my body feels so good. We took our time washing up, then we both got out. I grabbed a towel and dried my body off then dried my hair a little bit, then wrapped my towel around my body before I walked out of the bathroom and into his closet. He followed me shortly after with the towel around his waist.

“And can I help you?” He asked me giving me a look as I stood in his closet.

“Well I mean you could, give me a pair of boxers to wear with this shirt of yours.” I said smiling all cute.

“You’re lucky your cute. You brought clothes and you still wanna wear mine? I mean I’m not complaining. He said as he walked over to grab some boxers.

“I’m comfy in yours.”

“You can wear my stuff anytime you want.” He replied with before kissing me.

“Good. You should pack some extra just in case.”

We both got dressed, and headed to the bed, we laid in bed, kissing for a good couple minutes before cuddling up with each other and going to sleep.

The next day, work was dragging on, I was so excited to leave and spend the weekend with Luke. I was ready for it, I could tell he was too. He seems aggravated today, and it takes a lot to make Luke mad at work. He tries to be a calm understand Melli boss, but not today. It’s like everyone is walking on egg shells around him. I was about to get up and go to his office to see if he was ok but then the phone rang. I answered and a familiar voice was on the other line,

“Hi, yes I need to speak with Lucas James please.” She said in a rude way.

I knew instantly who this was, Maddie. I patched her through his assistant. I was curious what she was wanting from Luke, if it’s love she called the wrong man. About 15 minutes later, I saw Luke come towards the elevator, he looked like he was on a mission and not a good one. You could tell he was more aggravated then what he was. I decided I was gonna text him to see if he was ok.

Me: Everything ok?

Lucas: You don’t need to worry about it.

Me: What did she want?

Lucas: GRACE!! I said don’t worry about it. I’ll see you soon.
