Benjamin paused for a moment, then he said, ''Yeah, probably because you didn't take good care of yourself in the first two months of pregnancy. I'll get you some medicine, remember to take them, and don't stress yourself out over anything.''
I responded with a brief hum and leaned on the table feebly. I said very discontentedly, "If I had known that it would be so difficult to be a mother, I wouldn't have wanted this baby!"
There was faint and low laughter coming from the other end of the line. "Don't be silly! I'll go with you on the business trip. I'll take care of you."
Stunned for a moment, I said with embarrassment, "Are you just coming with me or do you have other matters to take care of?"
