26 DAHLIA AWOKE TO find herself cradled in Alain’s arms. She wore black silk pajamas, while his torso and legs were bare except for his underwear. She snuggled into his broad arms, his steady breath warming her neck. The night before, they’d left the exterior door open to listen to the lapping waves and distant foghorns.
