The Escape

Sophia’s heart raced as she heard the footsteps growing louder. She pulled Logan closer, her eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of danger. “They’re coming,” Logan whispered urgently. “We need to move, now.” Sophia grabbed his hand, her pulse pounding in her ears. “Where do we go?” Logan’s eyes flicked around, searching for an escape. “The back door. Follow me.” They ran together toward the back of the warehouse, their footsteps echoing in the dark. As they reached the door, Logan tried to open it, but it was locked. “Come on, Logan!” Sophia urged, panic creeping into her voice. “I’ve got it,” Logan said, his voice steady despite the situation. He pulled a small metal tool from his pocket and quickly worked at the lock. Sophia turned to look behind them. She could hear the gang members’ voices now, and they were getting closer. Her breath caught in her throat. Finally, with a soft click, the door swung open. “Let’s go!” Logan said, pulling Sophia through the door. They ran out into the night, the cold air biting at their skin. The sound of their pursuers was getting closer. Logan glanced over his shoulder, his eyes filled with fear. “They’re right behind us. We have to get to the car.” Sophia nodded, gripping Logan’s hand tighter as they ran toward her car, parked at the far side of the warehouse. The streets were empty, but she knew they wouldn’t be for long. Just as they reached the car, Logan suddenly stopped. “Wait.” Sophia turned to him, confused. “What is it?” “I’ll go first,” Logan said, his face serious. “If I can distract them, you can drive away and get help.” Sophia shook her head. “No, I’m not leaving you.” Logan’s expression softened. “I don’t want you to get hurt. Please, just go.” Before she could argue, Logan ran toward the shadows, disappearing into the darkness. Sophia’s heart skipped a beat. She wanted to follow him, but she knew Logan was right. If she stayed, they’d both be trapped. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to get into the car. Just as she started the engine, she saw headlights approaching in the distance. The gang was coming. Sophia pressed her foot to the gas, the car speeding away from the warehouse. Her eyes filled with tears as she drove through the empty streets, but she knew she had to stay focused. Logan was out there, and she wouldn’t stop until he was safe. As she turned onto the main road, she glanced in the rearview mirror. The headlights of the gang’s car were still visible, but they were far behind. She had a small head start. Sophia didn’t look back again. She kept driving, praying that Logan had enough time to escape. This is where the chapter ends. I hope you liked the story.
