"And it all comes crashing down

820 Words
I felt as if I was gonna throw up. My stomach was turning as I heard the sound of the ambulance, I was gasping for air then I would if I was running. My heart was pounding against my ribs as if it threatened to jump right out. I was struggling to keep a grip on reality as everything just seemed to get more exceedingly blurry. I blinked a couple of times and saw my brother in the front seat, at the steering wheel. That's right, we were driving, but now he laid passed out, the airbag in his face, blood pouring from him. That was why I was nauseous, I can't stand the smell of blood. As the wails of the ambulance siren grew closer, I reached out for my brother's hand, "Jake... Jake... wake up... they're almost here..." I mumbled as I shook it, feeling more and more tired by the second before I slurred out one more word, "Jake..." I groaned as a white light burned against my eyelids, begging to be let in. I thought I was dead, I mean, why wouldn't I be, as I opened my eyes the bright light burned my retinas, "Jesus Christ." I grumbled. What the ever-loving heck? I groaned as I finally managed to adjust to the light. "Where... where am I?" I mumbled. As I looked around, the smell of cleaning supplies and sterilization assaulted my nose. Yep, I was in the hospital. What in the world was going on? I felt as if I was going to throw up again. I looked around in a panic when I spotted a trash can. As I attempted to run to the trash can but was restrained by the cords connected to me. As another wave of panic rushed through me as I realized I was not gonna make it and puked all over the floor, the taste of vomit made me want to puke again, but I refused. There was only one thing running through my mind, where was my brother? I quickly ripped out all the cords connected to me, setting off alarms from the machines but I ran out the door, into a hallway where I greeted by several doctors rushing towards me, I looked around with panic and ran away from the pursuing doctors and nurses. I was luckily blessed with long legs, letting me get a head start on the doctors. I was breathing heavily. Car crash, brother asleep, hospital, and dread. These were the only things on my mind as I dashed down the passages of the hospital. My long hair obscuring my vision, I attempted to push back my ginger hair but with no avail. My sight was starting to fade as I ran faster, hearing the footsteps of people behind me. Black spots appeared in my vision, but I refused to give up. I had to find my brother. As I rounded a corner, I rammed into a cart. I heard the shrieks of doctors and nurses behind me to restrain me. But as quickly as I had run into the cart, I was up again and running. With a purpose, I refused to be kept from finding my brother. He was only 20, he couldn't be dead. The world couldn't be as cruel as to end such a young life. I swallowed, despite my throat itching like crazy due to the fact I hadn't drunk any water. As my head began to clear out, with only one mission at hand, I could hear the sounds of my bare feet hitting the tiles, the sounds of work shoes chasing after me, I could practically hear my heart pounding against my chest. I felt tears welling up in my coffee-colored eyes, I had to find him. I had to see Jake. I was, however, stopped short of this mission as I was tackled to the ground. "Let me go! Let me go! I have to find him! I have to find my brother!" I screamed as I gave puny hits to the back of the person who just tackled me. I could feel my fright continue to run through my veins as if my blood had turned cold. I felt like I couldn't breathe, which might have something to do with a man that had restrained me to the ground. When the doctors and nurses finally caught up, they were all out of breath. I was struggling and lashing around, "I have to find him! I need to see my brother! Let me go!" I demanded, pulling against the restraints. I glared up at the figures looming over me, with a shared look of worry and exhaustion, I doubt it's every day a girl rushes out of her hospital room in a full-blown panic. I continued to struggle until a doctor came up and pressed something cold against my neck and then finally, darkness.
