I knew I couldn't just go home, close my eyes, and pretend everything was normal. There was something inside me—an unsettling agitation that grew every moment. Jonah Hayes, the last of the Lunas' servants still alive. That name spun around in my mind like a mantra, echoing with the weight of the past and what it could reveal.
I picked up my cell phone and dialed my mother. Anxiety built as the phone rang. Finally, she answered.
