Derek smiled widely, his entire demeanor seemed to beam and relax as he spoke, "You won't regret this," he said while looking straight at me, making me feel at ease as well.
Time seemed to freeze as our eyes rested on the other's gaze. "Wait," he started, breaking the prolonged eye contact, "I have to set everything up," he continued, a light smile still playing at his lips as he reached for his phone in his pant pocket. Derek turned away from me and dialed a number before turning back to me. "I will leave for a while, okay?" he spoke as though a question, almost like asking me for permission.
