Maddie POV
I lay in bed, lazily wrapped around Stephen, our limbs tangled together in a way that felt impossibly natural. His arms were around me, strong and steady, holding me close like he never wanted to let go. The sheets were soft against my skin, but they couldn’t compare to the warmth radiating from him.
It felt… right.
And yet, that nagging voice in the back of my mind wouldn’t let me rest.
I closed my eyes, willing the thoughts to stop, but they only grew louder, more insistent. My wolf stirred within me, calm and satisfied after what we had just done, but her contentment only made my confusion worse.
How could this feel so perfect, so meant to be, when I knew it wasn’t supposed to happen?
