I was still trying to digest everything Averie had told me. That girl with firm eyes and an objective, almost cold voice had told me a truth that seemed like something out of an old tale. Not only had Jonah taken care of a Luna in the past, but the Luna, who, for some reason, was now me, had also already fulfilled his mission in this life. And now, Averie was here… for me.
The idea seemed absurd. I didn't need anyone serving me or taking care of me. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. But for some reason, the firmness and loyalty in her eyes made me hesitate. Averie talked about destinies—very big things, seeming like she had been waiting for that for a long time.
