The Luna, herself

Maddie POV My heart skipped a beat when I saw him standing at the door of my house. I was static. Two months had passed, but I still hadn't forgotten what he had done to me. The pain was still clear—a wound that seemed to never heal. He was there, in front of me, with his deep eyes fixed on mine, and I couldn't help the wave of conflicting emotions that rose inside me. Why was he here? What did he want? "Hi," he greeted, his voice low and full of regret. My reaction was immediate and harsh. "What do you want?" I asked, crossing my arms defensively. "Do you think you can just appear like that and everything will be fine?" He looked haggard, as if the last few months had been difficult for him too. However, I had no pity. The pain he caused me was still very present. "I just... need to talk to you," he said, taking a tentative step towards the door. "Can I come in?" I didn't want to let him in; I didn't want to hear what he had to say. But something in his expression made me hesitate for a moment. "Speak quickly," I said, keeping my distance. He sighed, running a hand through his hair nervously. He was visibly thinner, and his shoulders slumped as if carrying an enormous weight. "I know I was an i***t," he said. "I know I hurt you, and it kills me inside. But these past few months, I haven't been able to stop thinking about that night. And there's something else... something I need to tell you." I remained silent, waiting for him to continue. He seemed to struggle to find the right words. "The wolf inside me... it says you're my mate," he finally confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. My hands shook as I held the door. His words echoed in my mind, bringing to the surface a mixture of anger and sadness. "Do you think that justifies everything? That just because your wolf tells you that, I should forget what you did?" I asked. "I know I can't erase what happened. But please, give me a chance to show you that I can be different. That I can make you happy," he begged, his eyes shining with sincerity. I shook my head, fighting back tears. "You don't understand. The pain you caused doesn't go away like that. And I don't want to suffer anymore." He took a step forward, but I raised my hand to stop him. "Go away. I don't want anything to do with you anymore." He stood still for a moment, his expression devastated. Finally, he took a step back. "If that's what you want, I'll leave. But know that I never stopped thinking about you." I closed the door with a thud, pressing my forehead against the cold wood as I tried to regain control. My heart was beating wildly, and tears threatened to fall. I couldn't believe he had shown up like this, bringing back all those painful memories. I turned away from the door, trying to take deep breaths to calm myself. Likewise, I returned to the living room, where she was still there, her expression curious and worried. She stood up immediately upon seeing my condition. "Who was that?" she asked, approaching me. I forced a smile, trying to appear calmer than I felt. "It was just someone asking for a recommendation for a job," I lied, trying to divert the topic. She raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing me. "A job recommendation, huh? It didn't seem like that. Are you okay?" I sighed, knowing there was no point in lying to her. She knew me too well. "It was him," I confessed, feeling a lump form in my throat. "He wanted to talk, ask for forgiveness... he said I'm his mate." Her eyes widened with surprise and outrage. "What? This guy has a lot of nerve! After everything he's done, he just shows up and says that?" I shook my head, feeling even more confused. "I don't know what to think. Part of me wants to believe he's being sincere, but the other part of me is so scared of him hurting me again." She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "You did the right thing by sending him away. He doesn't deserve another chance to hurt you. And if he is your mate, he's going to have to prove it in a much more significant way than just showing up out of nowhere and saying some nice words." I nodded, feeling a little better with her support. "You're right. I need to be strong and not let him hurt me again." "Exactly," she said with an encouraging smile. "Now, how about we do something to take your mind off this? We can watch a movie or go for a walk." "That sounds like a good idea," I agreed, feeling grateful for her friendship. "Let's watch a movie. Something light and fun." She smiled, picking up the remote. "Perfect. Let's have some fun and forget about our problems for a while." While she looked for a movie for us to watch, I sat on the couch and tried to put thoughts of him aside. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but with friends like her and him by my side, I felt stronger and ready to face any challenge that came my way. **Later that night** After a light movie and lots of laughs with her, I felt more relaxed. She ended up walking away, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I went up to my room, ready to get some rest and process everything that had happened. As I got ready for bed, I looked in the mirror. Suddenly, I felt something strange. A tingling sensation ran down my spine, and my eyes widened as I saw the image in the reflection change. It wasn't just me in the mirror. There, reflected, was a beautiful wolf. His eyes were a deep blue, and his fur shone with a silvery shine in the moonlight that streamed through the window. She was majestic, powerful, and emanated an aura of strength and wisdom. My heart raced. "What...what's going on?" I muttered, taking a step back, but unable to look away from the mirror. The wolf tilted her head as if studying me, and I felt a connection; she was communicating directly with my soul. It was Luna, my inner wolf, appearing to me for the first time. I stood there, paralyzed, staring at my Luna's image in the mirror. A mixture of surprise, fear, and admiration came over me. I never imagined this moment would come like this, so suddenly. She looked so real, so alive, that I almost reached out to touch the mirror.
