LAURA CONTI. I made a huge mistake by sleeping with Mr. Rossi. I didn’t even realize it until my father forced me into a wedding dress and had me dragged to Mr. Rossi’s house, and further forced me into marrying him. That moment my life flashed before my eyes. And knowing the fact that my mother’s life would be in danger if I resisted, I couldn’t say anything but marry a man I know not much about but the fact that he was a chronic womanizer. I was still lying on the floor and crying, I’m certain I have been here for about an hour. I couldn’t stop my tears from flowing, what has my life turned into? A game to my father? I had no say in it, and now I’m married to a public d**k. “Get up!” I heard his voice, very soft but angry, speaking to me. I didn’t even have the strength to say a word. I got up lazily and stared at his blue eyes, they looked very cold and disgusted by my sight. He had a bandage on his head and was wearing new clothing. “You’re coming with me to New York,” he stated. I struggled to speak but I had to say something. “There is no need for me to come with you, this marriage is merely a charade.” I spoke softly, my voice sounded very husky from the crises. “Look, I do not f*****g care what you have to say. You’re coming with me to New York, because there is no damn way I’m letting this marriage make me lose my daughter.” he declared, his index finger pointing at me. “He won’t know I’m here.” I tried to argue. He wasn’t buying it, he ran his left arm through his thick hair. He looked very frustrated. “Lara or whatever the f**k your name is, you better listen to me. You’re coming with me and that’s final, I cannot afford another press craze over your unavailability by my side.” he conveyed, his hands running across his phone. He immediately placed it on his ear and made a phone call, he ordered the person on the other end to get his private jet ready. His eyes didn’t move away from me, they looked like they wanted to kill me, I had to look away. “Let’s go!” the moment he dropped his phone, he said to me. I nodded, not wanting to be the cause of another drama. He already had his suitcase downstairs so he pulled it and walked along with me outside. His mansion was very big and empty, there were no guards, nothing. As we approached his car, he tapped on a button and it opened. I sat at the front while he put his luggage at the back of the car. After that, he proceeded and sat next to me. He glared at me before igniting the car and driving towards the automatic gates which my father had tore down. The drive to the airport was very smooth and talk free, he wouldn’t even spare me a glance and that was the least of my worries. I tried my best to distract myself from all that was going on by staring at the moving vehicles on the road as we drove by. As soon as we got to the airport, a trope of guards ran over to him. They surrounded the car and there were a lot, he turned to look at me. “Make sure you stay behind the bodyguards.” he commanded, I nodded. With a final disgusted glance, he looked away and hopped out along with me. The guards were very quick to surround us, one even held my arm firmly and led us through the mob of journalists and paparazzi. It was wild as they tried to get photographs and words out of us, from the corner of my eyes I could see some of the journalists being pushed down. It was a crazy sight! Well, we managed to walk past them and got to the airplane hangar where his private jet was parked. A man walked up to him and soon burst into laughter, his eyes not leaving mine as he laughed. “This isn’t funny Keller, do not get on my nerves.” Mr. Rossi warned, but the Keller dude wasn’t listening, he kept on laughing loudly. He paused and took in some deep breath, while I watched them like a fool not knowing what direction to follow. “You’re telling me you’re married and you do not want me to laugh, hell nah, I will laugh as I want. Congratulations my man,” Keller put his arm around Mr. Rossi who angrily tossed it away. “Like I said, this isn’t funny Keller. I would love to board my plane now, and I’m willing to leave without you if you continue to display your stupidity.” Mr. Rossi sounded very angry as he spoke but it was heard otherwise by Keller who continued to laugh. I saw Keller swallow. “I’m sorry, we can leave, Husband.” He added stress to the word husband, I could visibly see the stress on Mr. Rossi’s face as he walked angrily towards the plane, whose doors were open. He took one last glance at me and then climbed up the stairs. Keller immediately made his way toward me, his eyes looking very inviting and happy. “It’s nice to meet you Mrs. Rossi.” He said, he sounded genuinely happy. I smiled, a forced one. “Nice to meet you too,” I grumbled. “Well, we should leave now before Matteo decides to leave without us.” I agreed to his words by ambulating behind him. We walked up the stairs of the plane and got inside, where Matteo was seated on a chair at a far corner with a scowl on his face as he spoke softly on the phone. “You can sit next to me, your husband doesn’t look like he is in a good mood.” Husband, that word sounded so foreign to my ears. I couldn’t believe I was married. Nevertheless, I sat next to Keller. He offered me a bottle of water which I didn’t decline due to the thirst I felt. “Are you full Italian?” Keller’s voice interrupted my sips. “My mum is Albanian.” I said. He smiled. “That explains the very dark hair and eyes, you’re very pretty by the way.” he complimented me, I smiled. His words sounded very genuine, I couldn’t even fake a smile. “Thank you.” The next thing we heard was Matteo screaming loudly at the pilot. “When will this plane f*****g take off?” He sounded very annoyed. Keller didn’t say a word but let out a chuckle. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it.” I heard Keller say to me, distracting my gaze from Matteo who looked very annoyed. Our eyes even met and he glared at me as though he wanted my neck. “I hope not.” I replied to Keller. “This marriage will be over soon.” “I hope not.” Keller replied. I gave him a questionable glance, he smiled but said nothing but passed me a bag of chips which I didn’t decline either, I was very hungry. I ate and spoke with Keller all through the flight which was about 10 hours. Well it wasn’t as I expected because Keller kept me company despite my attempts to ignore him, it was very hard. The other hours of the flight, we slept. A few hours into our sleep, we heard a grumpy voice calling out to us. It was more than enough for us to awake and find Matteo standing over our heads with a scowl on his face. He didn’t say a word and made his way toward the exit of the plane, it was clear that we had landed. Keller wiped his eyes and reached for his luggage. I on the other hand had nothing with me and I was still dressed in a wedding gown, how pathetic. “Let’s go.” Keller said to me, I nodded. He stretched his arm out and helped me onto my feets. We both walked over to the exit, I was very nervous and didn’t know what to expect as this was my first time in New York. As soon as we reached the stairs, the flashes from the camera aimed to blind our visions. I could see Matteo try to speak to the press, it was chaotic. There were a lot of media personnels and no amount of bodyguards could keep them away. As I managed to walk down the stairs with Keller's help, the press media made their way over to me and pointed their mics at me. “Madam were you forced to marry Mr. Matteo Rossi?” One of them asked, I tried to avoid their questions and move forward but there were a lot. Keller tried to help me pass through but he couldn’t, they pushed their mics at my face and suddenly I started having a panic attack and I screamed. The next thing I knew, I had fallen to the ground and I fell into oblivion, consciousness slowly leaving my body. *~* The heat in the room where I laid was not the only thing I felt when I woke up, I also smelt a strong smell of iodine and spirits. I tried to recover my vision and looked around me, I was in a hospital. I also noticed that there was a bandage around my head, and it hurt a lot. I tried to get up but it was very hard for me, I resisted the urge to burst into tears as the doors opened slowly. Matteo made his way in, his face looking calmer. “My princess, I’m so glad you’re awake.” There was a very sarcastic tone to his voice. I stared at him calmly, not uttering a word. “You really are a drama queen like your father. It’s only been a day since you became my wife and I have had to go through a lot ever since then.” he harshly said. I was trying my best not to speak but a word had to be said. “I am not interested in being your wife, and whatever happened between us that night was because I wasn’t in my senses, I’m sorry I dragged you into so much mess.” He rolled his eyes. “Your father, only God knows where he got my personal email, sent me a pdf of the marriage documents. My lawyers went through it and it stated that the marriage cannot be terminated until after three years,” he informed me. “I…” he cut me short. “Save your words. The only reason I came here to speak to you is because I wanna make things clear to you.” he stated. “Just because you’re my wife, doesn’t mean you’re entitled to my wealth, you’ll have to work for your money so I’d suggest you begin scouting for a job.” Clearing my throat, I said. “Don’t worry Mr. Rossi, I wasn’t planning on living off your wealth. And I wanna make a promise to you.” I stated. “What is that?” he questioned. “After three years, I’ll ensure we get a divorce, I promise.” I said, he nodded. “Deal?” he asked. “Deal.” I assured him.
