“WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO HIM?! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!” The man’s face was b****y and psychotic. She was already scared of how he looked but it got worse when he smiled at her. He smiled as he caressed the b****y blade of the kitchen knife he was holding. “Why?” his voice was hoarse when he asked her. He slowly leaned as the woman struggled to back away from him. “Because I love you. I love you so much that I did everything to eradicate those people who are against to our love! I did these all for you!” “You’re insane!” the woman is a crying mess as she spoke. She couldn’t bear seeing the man she love dead in front of her—because of her psychotic stalker whom she thought was her friend. She felt angrier than earlier. “You’re evil!” The man’s psychotic laugh. “Yes, I am!” --------- “Huh, I really don’t understand humans,” Luciel couldn’t help but comment as they watched a movie from Romina’s laptop. It’s Saturday and Romina decided to watch a movie with him. He actually got used to her getting excited on watching fictional movies like this. “I don’t understand why you’ll do something stupid like this just because of this thing called “love”. Though, I’m not complaining because, well, the more tainted the soul is—for example that character named Argus who looked stupid rather than psychotic—the more tastier the soul is. But still, I just don’t understand why you’ll do stupid things like this just because of “love”.” “Because that’s what humans are,” Romina answered after chewing the caramel-flavored popcorn that she’s eating. “It’s human nature to love since God also taught us how to love each other. Love is complex. It’s a mix of emotions, behaviors, and beliefs associated with strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth and respect for another person. This doesn’t just apply to humans but also to non-human, animals, to principles and such. That’s how wonderful love is. But sometimes, those people who craved for love but they got neglected sometimes became selfish that they’ll do something bad such as that man. Love is not like that. It’s obsession. They’re obsessed to the point that they became greedy and they’ll do something bad.” “Huh, so this thing called love will make you humans evil as well,” Luciel said with a cocky smile on his face, as if he’s mocking the whole human race. "You said that from your own mouth." "That's not it." "Eh~ that's what you supposed to mean." “That’s not it. For real. That's not it. That’s not love, that’s selfishness.” Luciel shrugged. “Meh. Humans really are fragile went it comes to their emotions. You became so weak because of that thing called love to the point that you easily gave in. Y’all such a pain on the butt sometimes.” “Why? Haven’t you experienced cherishing someone? Haven’t you experienced that feeling that you wanted to protect that person? Haven’t you experienced strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth and respect for another being?” "No," Luciel looked at the screen again. “No. I’m a demon. Why are you asking such thing to a demon who doesn’t have anything like that? That’s a weakness you wished you never have.” “No…” Romina responded. “Love is not a weakness.” That made Luciel looked at her again. “Love makes you stronger in times that you’re weak. Love gives you warmth when you felt cold. Love makes you feel secured when you felt defenseless. Love makes you feel free. Love makes you feel accepted and that you belong. That’s how… amazing love is. You don’t need so much power nor so much wealth or you don’t have to be extravagant just to show to the ones you cherish how much you love them. It just felt so peaceful and warm when there’s love. You can feel love not for other being but also love for yourself.” “Even if this love destroys you?” Luciel asked out of the blue. “If love will destroy you, love will fix you as well.” Luciel was staring on the moon. He’s silently sitting on Romina’s window while gazing on the moon. He was quite satisfied that he hadn’t seen any apparitions and ghosts floating in the sky that’s why he could see the clear sky. He really found it weird at first that he fancy looking at the sky. At the sky... the sky that once neglected him. “If love will destroy you, love will fix you as well.” His gaze went to Romina who’s sleeping comfortably on her bed, hugging on of her stuffed toys she bought from the online store using her savings last week. This stuffed toy reminds me of you, Luciel! She said to him, with a grin on her face. Luciel shook his head and chuckled. “Humans are just too complex.” He turned his gaze back on the full moon shining in the night sky. His eyes glisten in faint red. A sad faint red that even he didn’t understand why he felt such. He, then, chuckled faintly. “That’s why you fancy humans that much…”
