CHAPTER 56: The Wrath in Me

“HE’S BACK AND YOU DIDN’T EVEN TELL ME ABOUT IT?” Simeon asked. He was staring at Luciel who’s now silently sitting on the couch. Since her mother is not around as well as they don’t want to disturb Romina in her sleep so they talked in the living room. “If that little demon of yours didn’t have that initiative on contacting me about what happened, then I am still clueless over the fact that, that rebelled angel is back and after Romina’s soul.” After that encounter with Percival, he immediately took Romina home and managed to remove the burnt palm print on her arm. He tried his best to remove it so that Percival couldn’t sniff anything on Romina and locate her. “I am her guardian,” Luciel said and his crimson red eyes went on Simeon’s bluish ones. “I don’t need anyone’s assistance, especially from an angel like you. You have your own human to guard and months from now, she’s going to summon you as well so just focus on her. I can handle this. I can protect Romina.” “I am not trying to do what you’re thinking that I want to do. Percival is one of our powerful angels of death and as one of the angels under Archangel Michael, I’m also doing my job to end this case. He’s been killing innocent people here in the human realm and still their souls. I am also trying to protect Romina from him as well but that doesn’t mean I am stealing away your role as Romina’s guardian,” Simeon told him. “I hope you get my point here.” Luciel just remained silent but Simeon knew that the demon somehow understands his real intentions. He took a deep breath and spoke once again. “Sachiel is also one of the angels hunting Percival so he’ll stop causing troubles here in the human realm. I know you don’t want to talk about your twin—I mean, you don’t want to talk about him but I just want to inform you about that… that’s why he was here when we first encountered Percival but you ended up brushing him away.” Luciel was still silent, clasping his both hands. “I know I don’t have the right to meddle with your relationship… the two of you but Luciel, it’s been centuries since that day happened. Neither the two of you is at fault. Isn’t it a bit too much that you’re punishing not just yourself but Sachiel as well? You can’t just blame Sachiel nor yourself about it… don’t dwell too much in the past,” Simeon said with a sincere voice. The demon smirked, unamused. “Am I hearing something audacious from you, you mere angel?” “Luciel, I was just saying that don’t be too hard on yourself or on Sachiel. Neither the two of you is at fault about what happened centuries ago…” “So you’re telling me that I should move on and forget everything just because it happened ‘centuries ago’?” Luciel asked and then he scoffed. “Good for you that you easily forgive and forget because you’re an angel, after all, a hero from every realm. But that’s not my case. I am no angel to just forgive and forget. I am a demon and the wrath in me that I felt centuries ago will be and still be inside me as long as I am still existing.” Luciel silently went inside Romina’s room and saw that Romina is already awake, sitting on her bed and she’s nursing her arm that was still reddish because of what he did to get the burnt palm mark off of her. “Luciel… sorry, I fell asleep.” He didn’t say a word instead, he silently walked towards her and offered his hand. Confused, Romina looked at his hand then to his face and she saw how emotionless his expression was but him being her guardian for months now, he could tell what exactly happened and happening to him. He’s upset. She gently held his hand and she felt him gently squeezing her hand. “Can I… sit beside you?” he asked. Romina nodded and he silently sat beside her and remained silent while looking at her reddish arm. She didn’t know what got her that she’s now hugging him gently, as if consoling him. “I don’t know what happened or what did I do to make you upset like this but I hope you’ll forgive me. I will try my best to be careful next time.” Luciel’s eyes went crimson red when a memory flashed on his mind. Bloody white robe… extended hand, trying to grab someone… left arm was pierced with a red arrow… the b****y and pained expression written on his face. He closed his eyes as he patted Romina’s back and the back of her head. “I will not be going to make the same mistake again.” ---------- Can angels fall in love? Over and beyond the love that stems from grace, angels have only natural love. Therefore, they do not have elective love. But contrary to this: We neither gain merit nor lose merit by what is natural. But angels gain or lose merit by their love.
