*LUNA KIARA: BOOK 2 - CHAPTER 1* _Title: The Girl With Gold Hands_ *Chapter 1: The Window and The Secret* The throne room was boring. *Princess Luna Kiara* was 16 and she had heard every grain tax speech twice.[Kiara] She sat on the edge of her mom’s old throne, swinging her legs. Her dark hair was in a messy braid. The gold crown birthmark on her wrist itched. Below, the court was arguing about trade routes. Above, her parents were asleep in their chambers. And in her pocket was a map. *Luna * sighed. “This is why people rebel.”[Kiara] She hopped down, bowed to no one, and walked out. The palace was different at night. Quieter. She sounded like her dad when she did that. A boy stepped out from behind a tree. Same age as her. Black hair. Black coat. And eyes that were completely, totally black. Not cursed black. Different. He smiled. “Princess. Took you long enough.” *Luna *’s hand went to the dagger at her belt. The one her dad made her. “Who are you?” “I’m the reason the stones are glowing gold,” he said. “And you’re the reason they started again.” He held out his hand. On his wrist was a birthmark. A crown. But not Kiara’s. *Luna * felt the gold hum in the stones get louder. Like it recognized him. “Who are you?” she asked again. Softer this time. The boy tilted his head. “I’m what’s left of the curse. And I think... I think we’re supposed to fix it. Together.” Behind them, the palace bells rang once. Warning. *Luna * looked back at the castle. Then at the boy. She took his hand. “To be continued...” ---
