Lyra
The sun peeked through my curtains of my dorm room waking me up. Today was the day. It was my first day of college.
I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My dark red hair was a bit messy but had that effortless vibe. My green eyes sparkled with anticipation. I decided to wear a fitted black top that hugged my figure and my favorite high-waisted jeans that made me feel confident. After a quick shower, I put on a light touch of makeup just enough to brighten my face.
As I packed my backpack with fresh notebooks and colorful pens, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement. My phone buzzed—Hannah was texting me, reminding me to hurry up. We've been best friends forever, and I couldn't imagine starting this new chapter without her by my side.
When I stepped outside, the cool morning air felt refreshing against my skin. The campus was buzzing with students chatting and laughing, and I felt nervous. I spotted Hannah near the entrance, her blonde hair shining in the sunlight. She waved enthusiastically, and I couldn't help but smile.
"Hey! You made it!" Hannah exclaimed as I approached.
"Of course! I wouldn't miss this for the world," I replied, trying to calm my nerves.
"Are you ready for this?" she asked, her eyes wide with excitement.
"I think so! Just a little nervous about meeting new people," I admitted.
"Same here! But we've got each other, right? We'll be fine!" she reassured me, linking her arm with mine. I heard the professor for our first class is really cool," Hannah said. "I can't wait to see what he has planned." "Yeah, I've heard he's super engaging! I'm excited to dive into this," I replied, feeling more at ease. As we approached the lecture hall, I felt a chill run down my spine. The energy in the room was electric, and I could sense that something significant was about to happen. As I stepped inside, my eyes scanned the rows of seats, but then they locked onto someone across the room.
There he was.. a mysterious guy , easily 6'4", with dark hair that fell perfectly over his forehead and striking green eyes that seemed to pierce right through me. For a moment, it felt like time stood still. I could hardly breathe as he caught my gaze, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
"Lyra, are you okay?" Hannah whispered, nudging me gently. I shook my head, trying to shake off the spell he seemed to cast over me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just... wow," I managed to say, still captivated by him.
"Wow is right! He's definitely a looker," she teased, a grin spreading across her face.
As we took our seats, I couldn't help but glance back at him, hoping to catch his eye again. This was going to be one unforgettable day.
