Chapter 4 - Changes
Ainsley POV
6 Months Later
"Good Morning Jackie!!!"
"Go Away!!!"
"Wakie Wakie you sleepy head!!"
"Seriously, do you have an off button this early?"
"Please, I'm already a second cup of coffee in, I've already let you sleep in, get up!"
"But it's Saturday!!"
"Its Flea Market Dayyy!!!"Ainsley exclaimed.
Jackie grumbled under her breath as she very sloth-like got out of bed, rolling lazily out from under the covers, Ainsley rushed to the side of the bed and ran away with Jackie's covers.
"Okay brat. I'm out of bed bring back the blankets, that's a bit excessive!"
This had been a Saturday routine for them since the weather got nice. Coffee and flea market! Jackie loved the fresh fruit, Ainsley was all about her fresh vegetables.
Ever since the night Marcus never came home, Ainsley decided she was done with that chaos, it only dragged her down, made her doubt herself and what she was worth or what she meant yo people. This constant being treated as if she was a last minute thought when she'd dedicated so many years to this man, she knew she deserved better than that. She took a deep breath that next morning as she called Jackie to inform her of her decision, she was done, and needed to get away as soon as possible,as if the heavens were looking down on them an apartment at the north end of their little town became available, within day they took over as tenants, with a bunch of pleading and puppy dog eyes that is.
Marcus was persistent as ever, always messaging, calling; one moment on the edge of letting her go, the next madly in love. Ainsley didn't believe he quite knew what love was, or maybe he did and his image of perfection was cast in a different direction. Deep down she knew it wasn't love that he had for her but after weeks of calling she finally caved feeling maybe she was too rash with her decision to leave and agreed to work on things. Sticking to her ground though she refused to go "home". She finally had a place to call home, with Jackie; where peace was almost immediate once walking through the door, comfort cradled her, she was home.
Jackie was finally reading to go, her blonde hair curled to perfection, her blue eyes just glowing as she wore the perfect full length black summer dress, with her usual sandals to accompany the entire look.
"Ainsley you look like a hobo, get dressed you woke me up for crying out loud!"
"Do not, it's called comfort", Ainsley retorted while looking down at her overly baggy shirt, and grey sweats.... okay maybe slightly hobo-ish but dang it was comfy.
"... okay fine I'll get dressed". Ainsley ran to her room throwing on her high-waisted Jean short, with an olive green v-neck t-shirt that she tucked it. accentuating her big bust, bit minimizing (as best she could) she waist, grabbing her shades and white k-swiss shoes.
Within minutes they were out the door, and en route to the flea market, man did the morning sun ever look breath taking in the morning. As they sang their hearts out to the song list they had, sipped their coffee, and laughed the entire way the finally made it.
Stepping out of the car Ainsley took notice of a new coffee shop in town. Java Jay's. The sign was brand new drawing attention, to the yellow words on the brown background, the creamy cup with steam dancing above it, the sign had a hint of delicacy must of been a woman's touch she thought.
immediately the duo, went to their favorite vendors, Jackie overdoing it on fresh strawberries, while Ainsley on a hunt for the perfect looking green peppers.
"I got em'!" Ainsley shouted as she turned around to show Jackie her find, mid turn she bumped into a hard surface.
"s**t, sorry! I'm so sorry, natural cluts here, hope your okay, seriously again I am so sorry!" , Ainsley kept spewing apologies as the man turned to face her, smile spread across his face as he looked down on her. Those brown eyes, there they were, looking into hers. Starting to stutter "I,I,I..."
"Ains, it's been years, look at you!"
"Hey Jason, I didn't know you were back!"- a blush crept up her face.
"Just got back not too long ago, was busy for a bit there setting up shop." Jason was watching her, the red in her cheeks made him smile, he loved how he affected her.
"Setting up shop? what shop? WHERE? Are you holding out Jay!!!"
"Calm down, I'll show you it's just down the street." Jason grabbed Ainsley's hand and led her back through the crowd to where she started, he turned her and faced her towards that yellow worded sign she was critiquing earlier.
"What do you think?!" Jason asked amused as Ainsley hadn't said a word yet.
"A coffee shop, since when? I did not see this coming, I assumed you meant car repair shop" Ainsley chuckled as she stared at his beautiful sculpted face.
"I heard some girls in this town were crazy over their morning coffee, so why not bring the business here to watch it flourish. Don't worry Ains I'm not completely soft, I still work on cars just in my free time, the business takes over a good chunk though, this is my third location for Java Jay's, you women certainly have a thing for coffee" He said it so sly with that smirk to boot Ainsley knew she was in trouble if Jason stayed, she could ready feel her knees buckling the moment his gaze held on hers for a bit.
"There you are! Jesus woman what did I tell you about running off! Especially with studs!" Jackie exclaimed as she drank in the vision infront of her, a tall man with his built tattooed arms, licking her lips not even deviating from her friend to show her appreciation for the man infront of her, as she glanced at Ainsley and winked, Jason turned to look at Jackie and smiled "You think I'm a stud Jackie?" Jason said beaming at her.
"Ew, God no Jason, I didn't realize it was you, barf" Jackie animated getting sickening the trio howling in the middle of the street, as others gawked.
Jackie and Jason go way back, they were like brother and sister it was sickening they even fought like siblings.
As Jason walked inside to greet the new customers that had came to check out the new coffee spot.
Jackie gave Ainsley that all knowing "oh your f****d girl!" Ainsley read her mind without a word being spoken she replied "tell me about it!"
