It took a while but Zoey finally calmed down.
"Are you feeling better now?" Jake asked and Zoey nodded her head.
"That's great." Jake said and they both disengaged from the hug.
Jake looked into her eyes and Zoey looked into his.
The mood was good and so was the ambience.
All Jake wanted to do right now was to kiss her.
He wanted to do that but he couldn't, not when she was looking so vulnerable.
Not when she had just woken up from a nightmare.
"If you're feeling better, I'm going to go." Jake said and got up to leave but Zoey held him back.
"Please don't go, I'm scared." Zoey said quietly and Jake nodded and sat back down.
"I won't go anywhere, I'll be right beside you." Jake said quietly.
"Get under the covers, it's cold." Zoey said to Jake whose cheeks flushed.
