“Over there, please,” The Doctor said, pointing to the stone slab off to the side. Stanley wheeled the gurney over and noticed eight chains hanging from the ceiling. Attached at the end of each chain was a sharp fish hook about 2mm in diameter. The Doctor came over, bringing with him an I.V. pole and a heart-rate monitor. Hung from the pole were two bags of saline and two bags of blood. “Help me slide her onto the table, please,” The Doctor said with giddy delight. They moved her with gentle precision. “That’s everything for tonight, Stanley. I’ll need your disposal service in three nights time. Does that work for you?” Stanley conferred with the tiny calendar in his head and said he’d be there. The Doctor thanked him again and then ushered him out to the corridor. Stanley walked ba
