Alessia spent the rest of her day in a haze of gloom. She tried not to let her remaining patients sense her annoyance but knew she didn’t do a good job; it didn’t help that she pushed her patients harder than they’d wanted to go. She was trying to clean her slate before the next week hit her with all its force. She did her best but knew it wasn’t going to be enough. There was one bright spot to her afternoon, however. She was on her way to her next patient’s room, a Ms. Wisconsin, when she saw a large group wheeling a stretcher into the cardiac ward.
