He struggled and pushed her out of his mind. He didn’t want to start crying again, regardless if people were present or not. He succeeded, albeit barely. He went back to his work and had made it all the way into the offices before he heard the rapid three thunks again. He pointedly ignored it, concentrating on his work instead. The next time Giles checked his watch, it was almost ten-thirty. He made his way down to the employee locker rooms. He’d promised to do a good job, and he would, for his remaining hour.
