The silence stretched and then Knox stood slowly and dangerously.
Every person inside church immediately paid attention.
“You done?” He asked and I frowned slightly.
“What?” I asked as his eyes never left mine.
“You done talking?” He asked and the room froze.
“I’m trying to help. I don’t want people getting killed because of me.” I said as Knox looked toward Roman.
Then he looked toward every patched member sitting around the table and back toward me.
And when he spoke his voice came out calm enough to terrify everyone.
“She leaves. I walk with her.” Knox said causing silence and it felt like the whole room stopped breathing.
Nobody moved and nobody spoke. Because KNox Mercer had just threatened to walk away from Devil’s Hollow. For me. And Crow looked genuinely horrified.
