AURORA —--
I slowly turned the woman around and it was just a woman with similar features like Isabella.
"Miss." The lady questioned also surprised with how swiftly I turned her around.
"I am sorry I mistook you for someone familiar," I apologized looking around the office if I would see anyone like her one last time before leaving but there was no such person.
After making sure she wasn't anywhere around the building, I walked out of the building but before getting to my car I saw a little girl who had a striking resemblance with Enzo, Enzo had really rare eye color and so did this girl. I know Enzo was a secretive person which made the media no nothing about him despite the enormous wealth he had but he definitely had no mistress or kids.
The little girl stares at me kinly for a few seconds but I could swear she look too much like Enzo and for a spilt second I saw Isabella, what is going on with me I keep seeing Isabella's face In different people.
I don't think I would be able to bear sharing daddy or anyone with Isabella again, I hope she has really vanished and won't be coming back anytime soon.
ISABELLA —-
"Isabella, your daughter is front of the building." My colleague whispered to me as I stood up immediately running towards the elevator, Enzo can't see Sofia again I don't know what would happen this time around. I might just end up losing my job at this rate and I can't risk that.
I tapped on the elevator button continuously but it seemed the elevator was still busy without wasting anymore time I took the stairs which was quicker than expected, once I got to the exit door I slid my ID card into the machine and then rushed out, Sofia was still waiting for me with her nanny beside her. I looked towards the car that was driving away and to my surprise I saw Aurora scanning outside the building. I turned around quickly so she won't see me and when I was sure her car had left I rushed to Sofia.
"Mommy." She exclaimed hugging me.
"My Angel, I told you. You can't just come here whenever you want." I said to her looking at her nanny angrily, how could she allow her to just come here?
"She was going on a hunger strike in the house and said she won't taste anything till I take her to you." The nanny explained like she could sense me about to ask her the same question.
"Sofia is that true?" I asked.
SOFIA —--
"Yes, mommy," I pouted, giving Isabella my best puppy dog eyes. "I missed you so much and I wanted to see you."
Mommy sighed, looking torn between scolding me and giving in to my pleas. She glanced at the nanny, who looked apologetic, and then back at me.
"Alright, Sofia," she finally said with a small smile. "But next time, you have to ask permission first, okay? We don't want to get into trouble."
I nodded eagerly, my face lighting up with excitement. "Thank you, mommy! I promise I'll ask next time."
Mommy smile widened at that, and she ruffled my hair affectionately. "Alright then, let's go on our picnic."
Together, we walked to a nearby park that was just a short distance from the company. Isabella had packed a small picnic basket with sandwiches and fruits, and we found a nice spot under a shady tree.
As we sat on the picnic blanket, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and happiness radiating from Isabella. It was moments like these, just the two of us spending quality time together, that made me forget about all the troubles and worries in the world.
"Mommy, can we do this more often?" I asked, taking a bite of my sandwich.
Isabella smiled softly and nodded. "Of course, sweetheart. We can have picnics whenever we have the time. I want to make sure we create beautiful memories together."
I grinned, feeling content. It didn't matter that my daddy was busy or that Aurora might not like me. As long as I had my mommy by my side, everything felt right.
We spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying each other's company, laughing and playing games. Mommy even pushed me on the swings and spun me around in circles until we were both dizzy.
As the sun began to set, we packed up our things and started walking back towards the company. Mommy held my hand tightly, and I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together.
I may not have a traditional family, but I had a mommy who loved me unconditionally, and that was more than enough.
And as we walked away from the park, I couldn't help but feel hopeful. Maybe, just maybe, things would get better.
Authors POV —-
Enzo sat in his office, his eyes fixed on the window overlooking the park. He had caught a glimpse of Sofia and Isabella as they walked away, hand in hand. His heart ached with an overwhelming sense of longing, and he couldn't tear his gaze away from them.
As much as he wished he could be there with them, enjoying a simple picnic and creating beautiful memories, his work responsibilities weighed heavily on his shoulders. The company demanded his attention, and he had to make difficult decisions that affected the lives of many.
Enzo let out a deep sigh, running a hand through his hair. He knew that his absence from Sofia's life was taking a toll on both of them. He missed her laughter, her innocence, and her infectious excitement. And he knew that she missed him too.
But in his heart, he also knew that Isabella was doing an amazing job as a mother. She was the pillar of strength that Sofia needed in his absence. Enzo was grateful for her unwavering love and support, even when he doubted himself.
He stood up, pacing back and forth in his office. The weight of his responsibilities felt unbearable, and he couldn't help but feel torn between his duty as a mafia a secret he had to keep and his desire to be present for his daughter.
Enzo's phone rang, interrupting his thoughts. He took a deep breath, composing himself before answering the call.
"Enzo, we need you in the boardroom," his assistant's voice came through the speaker.
Enzo nodded, regretfully acknowledging the call. "I'll be right there," he replied, his voice filled with a mix of determination and sadness.
As he left his office and made his way to the boardroom, Enzo couldn't help but steal another glance outside the window. Sofia and Isabella were nowhere to be seen, but the image of them together lingered in his mind.
He knew that he had to make sacrifices for the company's sake, but at times, it felt like he was sacrificing his own happiness as well. Gradually, he realized that he had to find a balance between his work and his family.
Enzo entered the boardroom, his mind still on Sofia and Isabella. As he took his seat at the head of the table, he made a silent promise to himself. He would find a way to be more present in Sofia's life, to create those beautiful memories with her that he longed for.
The road ahead would be challenging, but Enzo knew that the love he had for his daughter would guide him. He would become the father Sofia deserved, even if it meant navigating the complexities of his job.
And just maybe, in the midst of all his responsibilities, there would be moments when he could steal away from his office to join Sofia and Isabella on their picnics, and bask in the warmth of their love-filled moments together.
ENZO —-
After the meeting, I went directly to my office and went straight to the window where I found Isabella and Sofia back at the park bringing a smile to my face. It was not too late to join them, Miguel walked into my office with my assistant beside him.
"Are you ready for the next meeting?" Miguel asked, making me chuckle.
"It's your company, why do I have to go to so many meetings?" I questioned myself, still stealing glances through the window from time to time.
"You know I need you, without you I can't ace all these meetings and deals." Miguel said, taking a seat.
" I need to get somewhere." I said putting on my suit jacket I just took off and started walking out.
"But your meetings?" My assistant questioned as Miguel nodded.
"Cancel on my meetings." I said rushing out before Miguel can say anything else.
I need to be with Sofia, I can't stay away from them anymore they are all that matter to me, I would be a father figure for Sofia and keep my real job a secret from Isabella for as long as possible just to protect them.
I rushed towards the exit door not even listening to anyone around me till I was across the street with a few guards following me behind while I rushed to the park. As I got closer to Sofia and Isabella I became really slow, thinking of the perfect excuse to give to Sofia as the incident of when I left her came back rushing through my mind.
But I was ready to get scolded by her if it meant being with her, I stood behind them watching the both of them joke around from a distance, this was the first time I was being so attach to anyone and it was really taking a huge toll on me.
Sofia turned around slowly and came eye to eye with me, how can she look so much like me and not be related to me in anyway.
"Daddy!!!!" She yelled so loudly that everyone close by was distracted by her voice, Isabella looks at me also shocked while Sofia raced towards me and I opened my hand widely welcoming her to my chest, she jumps on top of me wrapping her little arm around my neck as I kissed her cheek and then her hair taking in the pleasant scent of her hair shampoo.
"Daddy, you came back for me!!!" She yelled sniffing while Isabella walked up to us with a smile on her face.
I disengage from the hug as Sofia and I stared at each other for a few minutes, Sofia was already tearing up I could feel how much she was trying to hold in her tears but it slowly slide down her cheek's.
I used my hands to gently clean them off,
"Enzo." Isabella called also looking like someone who was about to tear up.
"Daddy, why did you leave me. You promised to always be with me but then you broke your promise." Sofia said with her tiny hands on my cheek slowly stroking them that was when I realized I also teared up without realizing it.
"I am sorry my angel but something came up and I had to leave, but I am back now and I promise not to ever leave you again no matter what." I said making her smile as she pulls me in for another hug, I don't think I have ever felt this kind of affection when hugging someone but Sofia made me feel the warmth and love at once.
" I am sorry I had to leave Sofia, please forgive me." I pleaded my eyes not leaving Isabella, yes I was only here for Sofia but unknowingly I was being drawn to Isabella's smile.
"I already forgived you daddy, the minute I stood up to hug you I forgave you." She whispered in my ear.
I moved closer to Isabella also pulling her in for a tight hug, I had never felt this complete in a long time, even with all the wealth and luxury this felt much more satisfying.
