ENZO —-
When I was sure that Isabella car had gone I immediately brought out my gun from my car and hid it in my suit while Alex rushed towards me.
"Shut down the building and any security tv camera around." I whispered to him rushing towards the weird people around as they rushed towards an hideout thinking I won't follow them but this time I was ready to show them what I am made of and a warning to them never to test my patience and show up in front of Isabella, I just hope and pray that Isabella doesn't find out the truth behind everything.
I ducked behind a car as bullets whizzed past me. My heart was pounding, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I knew I had to take down Rodrigo's men to keep Isabella safe.
I peeked out from behind the car and fired a shot, hitting one of the men in the shoulder. He cried out in pain and fell to the ground. Taking advantage of the distraction, I sprinted towards another hiding spot, my eyes scanning the area for any more threats.
A bullet grazed my arm, leaving a burning sensation in its wake. I hissed in pain but pushed through, determination fueling my every move. I had to end this.
I spotted movement near a dumpster and aimed my gun. Two more men appeared, their guns at the ready. Without hesitation, I squeezed the trigger, taking them down one by one. Gunshots echoed in the air as chaos filled the silent night.
I knew I couldn't stay in one place for too long. I had to keep moving, keep fighting. I dodged bullets, leapt over obstacles, and returned fire with deadly precision. Each shot was a reminder of the danger that surrounded me and how far I was willing to go for Isabella.
As the gunfight intensified, I could hear sirens in the distance. The sound of police approaching sent a surge of relief through me. Help would be here soon.
But I couldn't rely solely on the police. This was personal, and I needed to finish it myself. I took a deep breath, steadying my trembling hands, and charged towards the remaining men.
Gunfire filled the air as we exchanged shots, each moment feeling like an eternity. One by one, Rodrigo's men fell, their bodies hitting the ground with thuds.
Finally, silence embraced the once chaotic scene. I stood in the aftermath, panting heavily, my grip tight on the gun. I had done it. I had protected Isabella.
ISABELLA —-
As I drove away from the building, my heart raced in my chest. What had just happened? The sight of Enzo with a gun, the sounds of gunshots—it was all too much to process.
"Please slow down the car.", I said to the driver after we were a little bit from the building, I don't think I can't just drive away without being assured that Enzo is safe.
I couldn't help but feel a mixture of fear and relief. Fear for the danger Enzo had just faced and relief for his unwavering determination to protect me. He truly was a force to be reckoned with.
But I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that there was more to this story than meets the eye. Why did Enzo have a gun? Who were those men? And why were they after me?
The questions swirled in my mind as I pulled into a nearby parking lot. I needed a moment to gather my thoughts before going anywhere else.
I reached for my phone and dialed Enzo's number, my heart pounding in my chest. It took a moment for him to answer, his voice filled with exhaustion.
"Isabella," he breathed, relief evident in his voice. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I replied shakily. "But what just happened?"
Enzo paused for a moment before letting out a heavy sigh. "I'll explain everything, Isabella. But right now, I need you to trust me. Can you do that?"
I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. Trusting him was difficult, especially when so many secrets seemed to surround him. But in my heart, I knew that he was the only one who could protect me.
"Yes, Enzo," I replied, my voice filled with determination. "I trust you."
" Ma'am,can I drive now?" The driver asked making me contemplate ok everything while Sofia was still a bit dizzy the noises from gunshots earlier had woken her up but except from that nothing else.
" Miss." The driver called again.
"Do not leave till Enzo returns." I instructed.
"But miss I don't think that can be possible, Enzo specifically instructed that we take you to safety."
"I would explain to him myself just please wait for him, I feel like something bad is going to happen to him ". I pleaded with the driver who signs reluctant before letting go of the steering wheel and relaxing.
" I am risking my job only because of your daughter madam." He whispered making me smile.
"Thank you, I am really sorry I had to put you in a difficult situation." I said to him turning around to look out the window if I would get a glimpse of Enzo but there's as nothing, after few minutes of not seeing Enzo anywhere around I was about tell the driver to take us back to the mansion when I saw Enzo leaping towards one if his cars with a gun in his hands and his guards trying to cover him up before anyone would see him but his arm was bleeding badly, I looked down at Sofia who was fast asleep while I rushed quickly out of the car.
" Miss you can't!!!" I heard the driver yelled from inside but I still rushed out towards Enzo.
" Enzo!!!!" I yelled out loudly making him stop staring at me with shock.
" Isabella, I thought you left?" He questioned but I still rushed towards him as he stares at me still dumbstrucked.
" Isabella why are you so stubborn?" He asked while I checked his wound.
" You got shot?" I asked trying my best to sound brave when deep down I was breaking down.
" You don't have to worry, the bullet just brushed past my arm." He said to me ordering the guards to open the car doors for us while I escorted him in.
" Where is my little angel?" He asked like he wasn't even injured at all.
"She is in the other car." I replied.
" Tell the drivers to all move at once and take care of this mess." Enzo said to one of his men which I noticed is always around him since we started leaving in the mansion.
" Yes boss." The man said before closing the door and the drivers all started the car at once.
" Let's take you to the hospital you are bleeding more than expected." I said to him but he chuckled.
" I can't go there I have a first aid box at home let's just treat my wound at the mansion." He said.
As we sped towards the mansion, my mind was filled with worry for Enzo. His arm was bleeding, and though he seemed to dismiss it as a minor injury, I couldn't shake off the fear that it could be more serious. I pleaded with him to go to the hospital, but he insisted on being treated at home.
"Enzo, please," I pleaded, gripping his hand tightly. "You should let a doctor examine your wound. It could be worse than you think."
He looked at me with a mixture of appreciation and frustration. "Isabella, I assure you, I've handled worse injuries than this. Trust me, I know how to take care of myself."
I sighed, knowing that arguing any further would be futile. He was a stubborn man, set in his ways. But deep down, I couldn't help but admire his strength and resilience. It was just one of the many things that drew me to him.
We arrived at the mansion, and as soon as the car came to a stop, Enzo was immediately escorted inside by his men. I followed closely behind, my heart still racing with worry.
Once inside, Enzo's personal doctor was already waiting, ready to tend to his wound. I watched as they cleaned the bullet graze and dressed it carefully. Enzo winced in pain, but he remained stoic, not showing any signs of weakness.
As the doctor finished dressing his wound, I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards Enzo's men. They were more than just his guards; they were his loyal family, willing to put their lives on the line for him.
Enzo and I were left alone in his study, the tension between us palpable. We both knew that we had almost shared a heated moment before Sofia had woken up, and now, we were faced with the aftermath of that unspoken desire.
I stood awkwardly, unsure of how to break the silence. It felt as if the air was charged with a magnetic pull between us, drawing us closer with each passing second. I could feel my heart racing, my palms growing sweaty.
Enzo's gaze locked with mine, his eyes filled with a mixture of longing and restraint. His voice was low and husky as he spoke, breaking the silence that had enveloped us.
"Isabella," he murmured, taking a step towards me. "Right now, I need to focus on keeping you safe."
My breath caught in my throat as his words hung in the air. The intensity of his emotions mirrored my own, and I couldn't deny the pull I felt towards him. But he was right. There were still so many unanswered questions, so much danger surrounding us.
Before I could respond, the sound of Sofia's crying filled the room, snapping us both back to reality. Enzo and I exchanged a brief but knowing glance, silently acknowledging the interruption.
Enzo rushed out of the room to tend to Sofia, leaving me standing there, my heart still racing, longing for what could have been. But at that moment, my priority was my daughter's well-being. I couldn't let my desires cloud my judgment.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. Enzo had shown me time and time again that he would do whatever it takes to protect me and Sofia. And as long as danger lurked around us, I had to trust in him.
But deep down, I couldn't ignore the growing desire that burned within me. The heat between us was undeniable, and I knew that eventually, we would have to confront the passion that threatened to consume us both. But for now, we had to remain focused on the immediate dangers that surrounded us.
As Sofia's cries subsided and Enzo returned to the study, we locked eyes once again. The unspoken desire lingered in the air, a promise of what was to come. But for now, we had to put it aside and stay vigilant.
"Ehm, I should go to sleep then. Just take care of yourself and your wound." I said to him as he continued to stare at my figure like he was searching for something.
"Can we not tell Sofia anything?" Enzo asked.
" Of course we won't say a thing to get, she is too little to know about anything and besides I still don't know what exactly happened." I said to him clearly aware that he won't want to talk about anything.
" I would explain myself to you soon, but for now we should focus on your safety. So I was thinking why don't you take break from work?" He asked.
"You know I can lose my job at that rate, Miguel already has an eye on me because of Sofia." I said to him making him smirk standing up and moving closer to me."
"But I want you to be indoor at a time." He said his voice becoming more fierce like he was trying to taunt.
"I still love my job Enzo." I said to him as he moves closer to me with his lips close to my ear and each breath he made sent shivers down my spine.
"Then I would buy the whole company."
