The first rumor reached Natalie before nine o'clock. She was making copies of financial reports when two junior analysts walked past the break room.
"I heard Mr. Cole's father personally recommended her."
"Really?"
"That's what everyone is saying."
Natalie lowered her eyes to the stack of papers in her hands, she wasn't trying to eavesdrop, the conversation simply refused to stay quiet.
"People don't get that kind of attention unless they're special."
"Or connected."
