Twisting the Fates

Chapter 1

“Wake up Maisyn” my best friend Everett says flopping on my bed

“Ugh, ever heard of knocking Evie” I say sitting up and looking at her “How did you get in anyway”

“Your mom let me in.” She says standing up walking over to my closet flipping through my clothes finding something for me to wear, eventually settling on a pair of black jeans and a cropped Five Seconds of Summer shirt from their last tour. She tosses the outfit toward me telling me to get dressed before leaving the room and going to raid my fridge. After just laying on my bed for a few minutes I get up and start putting on the outfit Everett had thrown at me pairing the outfit with my favorite pair of sneakers, A pair of plain black vans. After I am dressed, I head downstairs to find myself food.

“Are you seriously eating the last of the Fruity Pebbles” I saw walking into the kitchen to see an empty cereal box of Fruity Pebbles o the counter and a very guilty-looking Everett.

“Sorry,” she says spooning another mouthful of her cereal into her mouth. I roll my eyes and sigh while digging through the cupboards looking for another box of open cereal. I settle on having a box of Honey Bunches of Oats and pour myself a bowl and go sit down at the table to enjoy my food. As we eat Evie informs me that she has plans for us to spend the day doing things that she preplanned and is refusing to tell me what we were doing, wanting to keep it a surprise from me.

As I finish up my bowl of cereal I am told to put on a blindfold and dragged by my arm out to Evie’s car to start the mystery adventures of the day.

"Can't you just give me a little hint" I beg

"No! I can't" she says laughing "It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, but I promise you will love it"

"Okay. fine." I say reluctantly say leaning back in my seat deciding to take a nap while we drove since I could not see anything I didn't want to get car sick.

We couldn’t have driven for longer than an hour when the car stopped, and the blindfold was removed from my eyes revealing where we were at. We were at the beginning of what appeared to be a hiking trail.

“A hiking trail? Really Evie? You know I don’t do hikes.” I say looking at her

“I know but give it a chance, I heard this trail is really pretty and it says it's an easy trail. Please Maisyn.” She says giving me her signature puppy dog eyes which she knows I can’t resist.

“Okay fine.” I say giving in making her smile widely and rush to grab water bottles out of her trunk. “Let’s go.” she says tugging me toward the head of the trail

About 10 minutes into the hike I get a strange feeling. I feel like someone or something is watching me “Evie do you feel like we are being watched” I say looking around “Strangely enough I do” She says just as my eye catches a wolf off in the distance staring at me
