Mate

I gaze at unconscious Liam on the floor then the man standing in front of me.

just when we lock eyes everything stopped.

gray eyes started back in my green once.

they look oddly familiar but I am hundred percent sure I haven't met him before.

and how come we are mates, I know there can be a second chance mate but I am still not sure if I can be that lucky after all that is happening in my life.

just minutes ago u found out I am supposed to live my life being a prisoner in yet again another palace in the vampire kingdom. I knew Angeline doesn't like me or hate me but how can she fix my marriage without my consent.

The man or I can say my mate came closer to me, I started to retrace my feet backward but stopped when he growled at my action.

I stand there rooted to my spot, he came closer I can feel his breath fanning on my hair. he is taller than Reagan. I am barely reaching his chest.

I never thought I would meet my mate then I found out Kian is my mate. I didn't even process the feeling of having a mate when he rejected me. I have experienced the pain of rejection once but I am not ready to experience it again. my eyes blurred with the unshed tears. I want to run away from here this all too much to process.

but I can't move my body it's like I am possessed by his gray orbs now he is just a half step away from me, he leans down so he can get close to me.

I remember it, his eyes I gave seen them before in my dream, yes.

before I can say anything he asked me.

"What is your name princess?"

I hesitate before but tell him nonetheless

"Elora."

"Elora"

he said my name to test how it sounds coming out of his mouth.

for some reason when he called me by my name I felt a sense of ease.

this is not good, I have just met this guy and I am already feeling this pool towards him. I never felt like this for Liam.

if my second chance also rejects me then? a chill run down my body even mare thinking about that.

I can't handle it but what can I do, I can't beg him to accept me, no I promised myself I won't live the life my mother lived.

"I...if you wa...want to reject me then okay but just do it quickly"

my voice cracked at the end and tears flow down my cheek.

his perfect face frowned at my statement, his jaw clenched. he slams his fist in the wall near my head. I jumped at that in fear.

he growled at me.

"why would I reject you? after waiting for so many years you think I will reject you?"

his eyes are dark, he's furious.

"Who are you?"

I managed to ask.

"First tell me why do you think I will reject you or you are planning to reject me"

his voice lower at the last statement, it sounded so cold I feared what he will do if I would have said yes.

of course, I won't reject him, why would I do that when the moon goddess blessed me with a second chance mate.

"No" I eagerly shook my head.

"Good to know, I won't let you do that even if you want to."

I don't know how to respond to that so I just nodded

"I am Caspian knight"

my eyes widen at his name. Caspian as in Prince Caspian, dragon crown prince

oh my God, I didn't saw that coming.

wait, he is the one who came here to find his mate and as Ingrid told me she is his mate.

is he really going to marry her, then what about me?

just thinking about him being with Ingrid my blood boils.

"Get away from me you liar"

I try to push him away but he didn't budge and I got distracted by the sparks running through my body just by a mare touch. I haven't even touched him on bare skin and still, I can feel the sparks.

he holds my hand and pulled me even closer to him if that is possible.

"What did you say?"

he asks me in his managing tone.

dread runs through my body.

I just insulted Crown Prince, I am dead.

I bow my head

"I apologize your highness but please reject me. I can not live as the second woman in your life. I... I can't do that"

my voice cracks with every word I spoke

"what are you talking about? why you will leave as a second woman. I don't have anyone in my fuking life. who gave you this idea."

I asked, annoyed as hell.

he sounds so genuine that I doubt if he even knows that his marriage is fixed with Ingrid. what if he also didn't know about that, what if King and queen have fixed his marriage without his consent? that is possible.

"I heard that you have chosen fae princess Ingrid as your mate"

he growled again.

"Who told you this?"

"princess Ingrid told me."

did he knows or not I am so confused now.

he takes deep breathes to calm down then places his hand on my cheek. spark erupts at his bare touch.

"Whoever this princess Ingrid is I don't know her and no I am not choosing anyone when j have already found my mate, you"

I can see the sincerity in his eyes.

"you have to trust me you are and will be the only woman in my life"

butterflies form in the pit of my stomach at his words.

I nodded at him with a small smile.

he was about to say something when we hear a groan

we both turn in the direction of the sound to see Liam laying on the floor groaning in the pain yet again to fell unconscious.

I sigh in relief.

Prince Caspian's hold tights on my arm.

he turns to look at me

I gulp audibly, should I tell him?

I don't think it's a good idea, I saw how furious he was when he found me here with liam and now if he found out that he was my mate I don't know what will happen

"do you know him?"

I nod at him unable to firm a word.

"tell me princess why he was all over you when I got here?"

I gulp again

"don't test my patience princess "

by eyes blur and I looked away from him

"he.. he was trying to harass me... I...I "

I was cut off by his yet another growl and then I find him in front of unconscious liam. his hands are turned into claws

no no no he can't kill him.

I rush towards them and grab Prince Caspian's hand.

"Please don't, don't do this "

he looked at me and I was taken aback by his look, his eyes are pitch black and he looked so livid. I take a step back scared.

his eyes soften at my scared face.

he tries to reach me but I was so scared of him so I quiver at his touch.

he steps away from me only to run his hands through his black hair in frustration.

don't be scared please he begged me.

I can see how he is trying hard to control his emotions so I collect myself and step closer to him and place my hand on his ballet fist.

he relaxes in my touch and sigh.

"what is going on here?"

we both turn around to find Reagan standing few steps away from us with Alpha James

Reagan rushed towards me and pulled me away from Prince Caspian and stand in between us

Reagan's POV___

I glace back at Elora to check if ahe is still on the same spot.

"she will be alright"

Aloha James tells me and I nodded.

I just hope no one tries to bully her when she is alone sitting there.

I stopped one maid and ask her to serve snacks to Elora, I know she is hungry.

Aloha James looked at me with a broad smile on his face

"what?"

I asked him

"you love her I can see"

I nodded at him with my smile.

she is the only person in my life who loves me unconditionally, she did not care if I am Fae Crown prince or not she just loves me because I am his brother.

we make our way to the table far away from everyone where Her highness Queen Scarlet is sitting waiting for us.

I bow once I reach the table.

Aloha James also bows and stands behind me.

"Prince Reagan, Aloha James told me you wanted to meet me in person with some urgent request, can't it wait till balk is over?".

she asked me while gesturing me to sit in the chair across from her.

" Please accept my sincere apology for her highness for the sudden request but inlay didn't get another chance to save my sister."

she node at me

"tell me what us your request?"

I glance around to make sure no one is in the range of hearing our conversation"

"don't worry prince Reagan, the table is enchanted with the spell no one can hear our conversation not even Aloha James and my guards ".

I sigh in relief and node at her grateful

"my grandmother told me you and my aunt means former Fae queen were good friends? "

"yes"

I smile at her confirmation.

"so you may have known about her daughter Elora, my half-sister"

she node at that.

I take a deep breath this is it I am doing it finally.

"I request you to take my sister Elora with you in your kingdom.

she is been mistreated here by my family and our people, I don't want her to live her entire life like that. please take her with you in your kingdom "

she smiles at me.

I don't know what she is smiling at. is she amused by my request or smoking me that I was so foolish to think that she will help me.

I was about to ask her what this means when she surprises me with her statement

"Alissa was right, Elora is lucky to have you as her elder brother.

don't worry she's under my protection now no one can mistreat her"

I stand up abruptly and bow in gratitude

"thank you so much her highness"

"no need to thank me, I am doing this for my best friend"

I nod at her with a wide grin on my face. I have to share this news with Elora. she is free now. I am so happy.

"James where is Caspian he should have been here 15 minutes ago. "

"I'll go check"

Alpha James replied and we both walk away from the table.

when we came to the spot where I left Elora I find an empty table with an untouched snack plate.

I told her not to leave still she is not here now.

I gaze around to check if she is around but no she's not here.

then my gaze land on crushed paper laying on the floor near table.

I crouch down and check the paper to find a note from Liam.

my fist balled in anger. I am going to kill him if he tries to harm Elora.

"what happen Reagan? you look furious"

Aloha janes commented

"We have to find Elora"

he node at me

"okay, let's go I can track her by her smell."

I follow him out of the ballroom once we step out of the hall I found Elora in someone's embrace and Liam is laying on the floor unconscious or dead I don't know.

"what us going in here?"

I ask

I stride fast in Elora's direction, pull her away from the man and stand between them.

no one can harm her when I am here.

the man growled at me.
