Zayne's POV
Aurora's voice came very strongly clear. Fearless.
“I petition for the curse on Alpha Zayne Blackthorn to be undone.”
A murmur rippled through the chamber.
Then an elder stood up and spoke, his voice ancient and cold.
“Child, you walk on dangerous ground. Zayne’s curse is not an accident. It is punishment.”
Aurora didn’t hesitate. “Punishment for something he did without knowing. For a law he never knowingly broke.”
There's a long pause at the moment. Then another elder hissed, “Intent has no role in sacred law. And neither do you.”
Silence. Then, “Stay away from Zayne, Aurora. Or the curse that stains him will stain you too.”
My vision blurred red. No, no, no.
They wouldn’t touch her. They wouldn’t threaten her. They wouldn’t lay a single thought of harm on her.
