Aurora's POV Jake froze and hesitated. Then he raised a brow. “Oh? Because the court doesn’t seem to agree.” He shot a look at me, then rested his gaze on his lawyer. Alan stepped between us. “Enough, Anderson. You know exactly what you’re doing.” His tone was sharp and steady. Jake laughed softly. “I’m simply correcting a clerical error.” He leaned closer, lowering his voice so only I could hear. “You thought you could erase me, Aurora? You’ll never be free of me. Not in this life.” I wanted to scream, to slap that smug look off his face, but the clerk called our case, and I was forced to follow Alan into the courtroom.
