Aurora’s POV Pain wakes me before my breath does. It doesn’t start in my body. It starts deeper, somewhere beneath bone and blood, where the bond lives. It rips through me as a blade dragged slowly across my soul, and I gasp, my chest jerking even though my eyes refuse to open. Zayne. The name explodes in my head, sharp and desperate. Something is wrong. No, worse than wrong. The bond is screaming unstoppable. And I try to move, to lift my hand, to open my eyes, but my body doesn’t answer. I’m trapped inside myself, heavy and weak, like I’m sinking under dark water. My head throbs. My lungs burn with every shallow breath. Inside me, my wolf stirs.
