Zayne’s POV I needed to see the file myself. And I needed to know what Jake had seen. What he had learned. How much he had stolen. My hands were shaking again by the time I unlocked my door. I went straight to the safe behind the bookshelf and pressed my thumb to the hidden scanner. The lock clicked. The heavy metal door swung open. And my heart dropped to my knees. The file wasn’t in its usual place. I saw the top envelope was crooked. Pages inside were shifted. Something was missing. I snatched the file and flipped through it with shaking fingers. Page 3 — gone. Page 7 — half torn. Page 10 — removed completely. The final sealed document peeled open and was empty.
