Chapter 2: Rejected

Chapter 2: "Mate." He calmly spoke as he made his way towards me. He smirked as walked in a full circle around me. "I never thought my mate would be an omega and a maid." My gaze fell to my fingers as they twiddled together, a little nervous habit I had. I knew he was rich just by the clothes he was wearing. He wore a black suit that was clearly made out of expensive material. His shirt underneath was a silky black satin. A maid being mated to someone with money was unheard of. Especially, if your rank was considered an omega. "Reject me," I told him in a soft tone. "No! What are you saying?" Angelique's voice boomed in my mind. "He's our mate, Isabella. You can't have him reject us!" I knew I was hurting my wolf with the thought of being rejected. However, I couldn't face the consequences that would come with possibly being mated to a man who was clearly above my social class. "I'm sorry, Angelique. We can't get in trouble for this. It would never work, he's not from our world," I said to her, hoping the painful sensation emerging from every aspect of my body would come to somewhat of a halt if I just explained to her the situation. "I won't reject you...yet," His voice interrupted the conversation I was having with my wolf. He was standing closely behind me. The smell radiating off of him was incredibly intoxicating. I could feel the happiness beaming off of Angelique as she tried her best to contain herself. I looked up at the brown haired man in disbelief. "Why?" I asked, "You're clearly not going to accept an omega as your mate, especially one that can barely make ends meet". "You're right,” I could feel his hot breath on the back of my neck. “But if I'm going to reject you, then it's going to be on my terms. Plus there is something about you that is intriguing, I just can't put my finger on it." I felt his fingers twirling my hair as he now stood in front of me. He was a handsome man and I tried not to stare, but terribly failed at that. There were golden specs in his emerald eyes and the expression on his face was unreadable, but his gaze glued to me. "What's your name?" I asked, breaking the silence between us. "Why?" I could tell he was amused and mischievous at the same time. "If you won't reject me, then I'll reject you. What's your name? Are you even from this pack?" I snapped at him. My frustration about the situation was rising, I didn't have time to be dealing with this arrogant man and the torture I would have to endure if anyone would found out. Within a short few seconds, his hand had aggressively cupped my cheeks between his fingers, "You've got a lot of attitude for a Omega," he sneered. I roughly pushed his hand off my face. I knew it was abrasive action, but I couldn't fathom his harsh tone and aggressive demeanor. Pushing his hand away and being utterly disrespectful, could most certainly cost me my job here in the Alpha's house. At that very moment, I could have cared less. "Harris!" A shrill voice called from the entrance from the dining hall. We both looked over and found Gisele glaring at us. I moved farther away from him, knowing that it wouldn't make a difference, but thought it would somewhat help the situation. Even though she had seen us and the damage was done. I knew I was going to lose my job. "Mother," the man calmly called, as he walked over to her. "My god, he's the alpha's son," Angelique's voice chimed in once again. "Hush, I can't think straight with you constantly ogling him," I jeered at my wolf. Soon Gisele's voice boomed across the room in a high pitched volume, "What the hell are you doing here with a maid? When your father told you to explore around the pack area, this isn't what he meant". I began to twiddle with my thumbs again out of nerves. "And you!" Gisele yelled in my direction. She aggressively flounced over to me, clearly upset with what she had seen. I kept my head and gaze down, prepared to take her full wrath. Right when I expected her to harshly grab my arm and forcibly throw me out the house. I looked up to find Harris blocking me from his mother. "I wandered in here, mother. The maid was just escorting me out. Don't raise your blood pressure more than you have," he calmly told her. I knew he was mocking her as well; there was a sarcastic tone in his voice as he spoke. He soon turned to me and said, "You can leave now, I don't need you hearing our conversation". I quickly nodded and ran, making sure to have little to no eye contact with the Luna. Once the dining room doors shut behind me, I scurried back to the kitchen. I could feel how hot my face was and my legs were trembling beneath me. It was bothersome that I was no longer within Harris's presence. My wolf was seemingly crying out for him and as much to my dismay, so was I. I couldn't even process the fact that he just defended me to his mother. It would have been admirable, but something inside me knew he had other intentions. "That took you long enough, sweetheart," Ms. Aggie’s voice boomed in my ears. I looked around my surroundings before realizing that I made my way back in the kitchen. I was engrossed in my own thoughts, I didn't even realize it. "You have no idea," I mumbled as I went back to my job of kneading dough. I tried my best to forget his soft green eyes and handsome face, as if our encounter never happened. ~*~ "It's been a long day, hasn't it?" Angelique spoke. "Mmmh, it has and I know you've been cooped up inside. I came out here for a chance for you to run," I said as I began to stretch. After work, I had told Maya to come over another night. I knew she was still upset with me and spending the night with her would mean subjecting myself to the classic cold shoulder. She agreed with no hesitation and from there we parted our ways. It was late at night and the wind was crisp. Autumn had just begun. The trees were changing color, leaves were starting to fall, and the night was cool. I began to pull my shirt over my head and tugged my pants down to my ankles. I stood in the backyard of my small house that led straight into the forest. I didn't have any fencing to trap me in, which often gave a nice sense of freedom to my runs. I carefully shifted into my wolf. Letting my human form leave and well embodying Angelique's wolf features. I could feel her enlightenment of being set free, she was ecstatic. "Are you ready?" Angelique's smooth voice boomed inside of my head. "Yes,” I told her in confidence. I could feel our hind legs pushing off the ground and soon enough we were running in full speed through the forest. The crunch of the dry leaves filled the cold, brisk autumn night as we progressed in our path deep into the forest. The wind nipped at our soft white fur as Angelique glided us through the trail. I gave full control to my wolf during our runs, while I took the back seat. I soon noticed that we had come to a stop. I looked around to see that Angelique had brought us to the lake, which resided deep in the forest. The lake was always our destination, the way the moon shined on the crystal water made the sight absolutely breathtaking. I could feel our legs drop to the cool grass and be only inches away from the water. “I’m going to rest for a little bit, Isabela. I also want to admire the crescent moon tonight,” Angelique told me. “Of course,” I softly replied back to her. We both sat there quietly, soaking in the silence. I appreciated having Angelique as my wolf, without her I wouldn’t know who to turn to. The day she arrived is a day I would never forget. From the few times my father had talked about my mother’s wolf, I knew Angelique’s wolf form was an exact copy of my mothers’. The only white wolf within her pack. Not to mention how large my wolf is due to having only Alpha blood in my veins. I had never shifted in front of anyone, except Maya of course. Every time I did, Maya would gaze upon me with amazement. “Isabela, someone else is here, “Angelique’s voice boomed in my head. We turned our heads in the direction of the rustling bushes to find a black wolf with beady, yellow eyes glaring at us.
