Chapter 2

'I want to touch him!"'

His fans were going crazy just at the sight of him, he waved at them and smiled revealing the dimple on his right cheek, Prince Lester had one of the biggest fan bases in the world.

They tried to get close to him but his bodyguards did not let them, they made sure that Lester was protected always, because even though he was this popular he still had a lot of people who did not like him.

Meanwhile in the royal palace, nobles, wealthy merchants, prestigious citizens of KU, intellectuals, royals, the queen and the King were present at the ball. The ball sure was a very colourful one, everyone looked their best with their ball gowns, tuxedos, tail coats and so on...tonight was going to be splendid.

The castle rested at the centre of Duban, the capital of the kingdom of Utopia, it was a tourist attraction and one of the ancient wonders of KU, it was massive and elegant, designed with gold and silver, and it smelled of wealth, extravagance, prestige and power, it reflected the glorious wealth of the Royal family. The castle was where the king, the royal family and their countless servants stayed in. The castle was so big that it could accommodate more than five hundred persons comfortably, it had a large ballroom and countless guest rooms which were expensively furnished. The king's domain was one of the most secure and expensive places in the Castle, this was where the king stayed and where the throne of KU was located Prince Lester the first son born to the King was the heir to the throne, after the King's quarters the next important place was the ballroom...

The ballroom was breathtaking, the interior designs could make one's jaw drop to the floor, the hall interior was made mostly of gold, the floor was marbled and the hall glittered extravagance, the ballroom had eight huge human-sized windows covered with thick long purple velvet curtains, golden chandeliers hung from the ceiling and stunning statues were placed at strategic corners of the hall.

Prince Calvin walked in with Laura beside him, he was holding her hand and she had a slight blush on her cheeks, he was in a three-piece suit and then the royal emblem was fixed to his breast pocket-the symbol of KU is a lion crowned with a large golden crown, this symbol represents the kingdom's, pride, strength and wealth, all royals always had this emblem on to differentiate them from normal to differentiate them from normal people. While his fiance Laura wore a long purple flare gown, she was indeed very beautiful.

All eyes were on Prince Calvin and Laura, indeed they were fabulous, Laura with her pink gown which looked like a large pink rose held her head high as she and Calvin walked to the king.

Calvin bowed before the king, his father, and then his father tapped his shoulder. Laura paid respect to the king by bowing down with Calvin and the king took her hand into his and kissed her hand lightly, they went to the queen who was standing beside the King and they did the same thing.

The hall became rowdy and everyone--especially the damsels were whispering to one another. What was causing this?

"Oh, my gosh I can't believe that he is here."

"I thought he won't be coming?"

"I'm glad I came, I really want to have a dance with him,"

"He is so good-looking."

"Prince Lester is finally here!"

It was Lester, everyone's eyes were on him and everyone was surprised to see him there, he was with his personal assistant Russell, who went with him wherever he go es to, they have known each other since he was little, they walked majestically into the hall, with this nonchalant look on their faces.

"A ball? Are we in the f*****g 1800s?" Lester muttered to himself as he walked to his father, he was bored already. He was the only one in the hall dressed casually, he had Nike shoes on with black jeans and a black leather jacket, even though he was dressed casually every lady in the hall wanted to have a dance with him.

"I greet you, Father." He said and shook hands with his father and then he hugged his mother the queen, his father was angry at his son's appearance, but he did not show it because he well knew who Lester was. Lester hugged his sisters, Flora and Amanda but when Calvin was about to hug him he walked passed him, ignoring him and Calvin sighed.

"Once a dickhead always a dickhead," Calvin cursed under his breath.

"What brings you here, brother?" Calvin was trying to act calm even though he was just snubbed by his brother in public.

"I thought you had some fancy concert tonight?"

"I changed my mind, I postponed the concert."

Lester's fans were very disappointed when he told them he was not performing tonight, the organizers of the concert had to pull up something quickly before the fans starts to ask for refunds or go crazy but all of this was not of concern to Lester.

"Hi." Laura chirped and Lester looked at her, and Laura felt intimidated by his piercing stare, his gaze was as cold as the Arctic. Lester removed his gaze from her. "Ill be taking my leave now," Lester said and left his brother with a frozen Laura.

"Why is your brother so cold and scary?" Laura whimpered and Calvin sighed.

"He is a dickhead, don't let him bother you." Calvin said, "And you should stay away from him."

"Why are you and your brother not always on good terms? And why should I stay away from him?" Laura could not just understand why Calvin was strongly urging not to have any dealings with his brother, there was something uncanny about him and his brother's relationship.

"Do not let anything bother you, Laura," Calvin muttered and took Laura's hands into his and gave them a gentle squeeze. "Shall we dance, my lady?" Calvin whispered and Laura blushed and the both of them started dancing to the sound of the music playing.

Lester was alone when Princess Tiana Hernandez, the daughter of King Hernandez II the king of a small kingdom in the West, approached him, she was beautiful, she had round eyes, and her skin was fair, it looked like there was no single blemish on her skin.

"I dislike balls," she said and Lester contemplated whether to reply or not, she came to him complaining, this was the first time they were meeting and Lester graded her manner of approach as very poor. He let out a sigh.

"Especially ones like this?" He replied to her and his blue piercing eyes met with her brown eyes, it took her a lot to remain calm even though he was intensely staring at her.

He is so handsome' She said to herself. 'And intimidating, why did I even walk up to him?"

"Yes, especially ones like this." She replied slowly and he chuckled.

"You can't dance?" Lester suspected that she could not, because if she could she would not be here complaining but dancing.

"How did you know?" She asked surprised.

"I asked a question which deserved an answer," Lester said tersely making Tiana shudder. He was so intimidating and she felt a lump in her throat but when he flashed a smile at her she became slightly comfortable.

"Yes, I can't dance." She stammered and then he walked towards her and stopped inches away from her.

"Girls who can't dance normally hate balls or occasions that involve dancing," he chuckled and raked his hair with his hand.

"That was how I knew."

"I don't. " She paused, she was lost for words and she started hyperventilating and quivering because the hottest guy in the hall was this close to her. Almost everyone including Calvin was staring at Lester and Tiana, Calvin was shocked more than anyone because he rarely see his brother with a girl, especially on occasions like this.

He placed his hands on the small of her back and she became speechless because of how suddenly he touched her she froze and became lifeless like a statue. Some girls were annoyed when Prince Lester held Tiana, and they became indignant when Lester moved closer to her. 'She's not even that pretty," they began finding faults in Tiana as Prince Lester danced with her.

"Who is she?"

What is she doing with the prince? Is she a w***e?"

"Why must he dance with her?'

Lester leads her to the middle of the hall and most people dancing stopped dancing just to see the both of them dance. That was how influential Lester was.

"Do not be afraid, let me show you how it is done." He whispered into her ears and she gulped, his voice was deep and smooth. She cringed at his touch and her eyes were shut to avoid the glare of his piercing blue eyes.

He took her tubular hand which was as smooth as riverside pebbles into his and he danced with her.
