Hide Heidi Chapter 3

1400 Words
Just like that it was about five after 7am on the clock. It had started off being a good night of sleep, but once Heidi got roused awake, by that buzzing noise, near her window, forget about it. Heidi had not felt as refreshed by her night of sleep. She was off this morning to say the least, she was holding Mimi's harness, and at the same time, running around like a nut trying to find it. "Oh my goodness, I'm holding it, no wonder I can't find it, in the usual spot," she said aloud to Mimi, as Mimi looked at her with her head c****d to the side, as if to say: "What's the matter with you, your holding my harness, now put it on me like a good dog mommy, and we shall proceed." Heidi did just that, proceeded to hold Mimi in place while she buckled her harness in place. "Alright there girl, even though I may not be ready this morning, I know you sure are ready, for our morning stroll," Heidi said to Mimi, as she finished snapping in her leash. To the park, and around the neighborhood we shall go. This time Heidi would make extra sure she cleaned up any dog doody. She would pick it up, even if Mimi did one deep set in the bushes. She would get in there, and see to it that the trees had nothing to discuss about her dog walking habits this morning. "I know what I heard, and I heard the trees discuss how I didn't pick up your doody, I certainly won't make that mistake twice." Heidi stated to Mimi as Mimi pulled her out the door. Ready or not here we go, Heidi thought as Mimi pulled. Heidi had managed to stay pretty calm, and level headed, at the fact, that the trees were mocking at her with disgust. If it wasn't for the high strangeness, that has been occuring on a regular basis now; Heidi normally would have been pretty terrified, at the fact, that if the trees aren't talking, and observing on there own, then that means that someone or something has been observing and peeping through them. For someone to have been able to see; that her dog took a crap, that she didn't clean up, meant that someone was watching Heidi. At the least they were certainly watching her last night, she reasoned in her mind. Nowadays, the strangeness, and odd quirks that surround most people, have pretty much just kept traveling right over Heidi's head. It hadn't ever been a cause for alarm before. In fact, after the Kora virus had hit, many people who seemed completely normal, and level headed, have ended up becoming more undone, than a psychiatric patient. It was to be expected, to say the least. People already struggling with loneliness, being told they have to stay quarantined inside their homes, fear leveling up, and taking over people's minds, had some even board themselves inside their homes, for fear of zombies. Casual s*x seemed to be the new go to drug, for a lot of seniors, and middle aged. Not to mention, people who have never had drug problems, are now self medicating their heads off. Yes, a good way to make average level headed citizens insane, is simply restrict them, and isolate them inside of their homes. Where only a man and their imagination dwell, surprises are sure to be found. Heidi had certainly become surprised, at not only the new personalities exhibited, by her neighbors during that time, but even their outward appearances had seemed to change. Old Mrs Winslow, the widow, for example, started painting her face with bright colors, and wearing flashy attire. I suppose boredom does lead to many things, Heidi knows about that first hand. Out of Heidi's boredom, was birthed a drug addiction, that she still battles within. Mimi, and Heidi were about halfway through the park, when Heidi spotted that same white SUV Cadillac Escalade. This time she was able to get the first three letters, off the license plate. HMP. HMP, would be easy enough for Heidi to remember, Heidi Michael Pods. Now, she could have a basis for comparison. She would know for sure, whether or not this Cadillac, was the same car she has been seeing. What would she do, or what could she say to them, if it would be the same. "Hey excuse me, but why am I seeing you everywhere I seem to go," Heidi answered to herself. That's a fair statement, and fair question. Of course Heidi didn't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill. In this day and age though, where women get kidnapped, and thrown into the trunk of some car; Heidi felt that being cautious and questioning, should not be an offense to someone. Especially, if they honestly meant no harm. At that same moment, Mimi took one of her famous no clean doodies behind another bush. Heidi squatted down, barely able to tell the difference between doody, and dirt. Oh screw it, thought Heidi, as long as I'm bagging something brown, noone can say anything. Besides, it's not like anyone is really going to come examine what Heidi placed inside the bag. As she was turning to walk away, with Mimi in tow; she heard a murmur coming from the one birch tree. She walked a little closer to the tree, and she heard again what sounded like a man,and a woman. This time she heard them remark, how today she actually picked up after her mut. Well I'll be, thought Heidi. One thing for certain, she was being watched. At the very least, there was some disgruntled couple, that didn't seem to like dogs. Heidi wondered if they do this to all who they see walking a dog. Heidi would have to speak with her next door neighbor, Mr Anderson. She knew that Mr Anderson walked Lilo his pit bull, every day through the park, the same way Heidi walked Mimi. She just would ask Mr Anderson if he experienced any weirdness while walking. Weirdness like talking trees commenting about how he picks up crap. Hopefully, Mr Anderson also has experienced the angry trees, otherwise, Heidi would look pretty weird presenting that to him. Heidi was not afraid of people thinking she was weird, in fact, the least of Heidi's problems were how others viewed her. She pretty much always marched to the beat of her own drum, and was not troubled by the comments, or opinions of others. This tree thing was a little different though. Even though, if it would end up being, some disgruntled elderly dog haters, Heidi still did not like that she, and her poop picking up habits, seemed to be the topic of conversation. What seemed to bother Heidi the most was the invasion of privacy. She couldn't even give herself a freebie during her walk, without someone shaming her, what type of world is this, she thought. After walking a couple blocks more, Heidi's ranch level stoner was in site. As well as the dogwood tree, and guess who was seen lurking near the tree again.....Yup, Mr old man baseball cap, that's who. Did he have something to speak with either herself, or Michael about? She pondered, as she headed straight towards him. However, he started on his way back to wherever he came from, when he saw Heidi, and Mimi approaching. Mimi even gave a bark at him, letting him know she saw him. Obviously, he had not wanted to talk, for if he did, he would not have started to walk away as soon as Heidi got into sight. Michael is gonna have to put that motion detector camera thingy, up for Heidi today. She needed to know why this man was seen now two days in a row outside by her tree. Could this possibly be the male voice behind the other tree, she wondered!? If that was the case, then those people were certainly, going out of their way, to pry into Heidi's habits. It would mean the tree wasn't a homeowner near the park, it would mean someone was purposely watching Heidi. The vibes actually seemed more stalkerish if anything. Is Heidi being stalked by the elderly neighbors, she wondered, as she and Mimi came through her front door.
