c**k a doodle dooo, c**k a doodle doo...Screamed the alarm at 7am. Heidi grabbed her alarm and quickly snoozed it. I just need about ten more minutes, Heidi thought as she scrambled to get back into her warm little nook, in her bed. Ten more minutes and then I will get up, Heidi told her German Shepard, Mimi, who stared at Heidi, awaiting her to get out of bed. She is ready for her morning walk, even though I'm not, thought Heidi. Alright, Alright, I guess now is as good a time of any, to get up and start her day, Heidi thought as she grabbed her sweatshirt, and slipped on her slippers. Well, at least the sun was out, and spring was blooming, trees were starting to bud, and Mimi was there tail wagging, and tongue, happily hanging out of her mouth. "Well, I suppose you are waiting for me". Heidi stated to her dog, as she grabbed her leash and harness. "Come on girl," " Let us see what this day has for us." said Heidi, as she got Mimi ready for her morning walk. Heidi stepped outside with Mimi, and breathed in the early spring air. What a wonderful scent, and how great the feel of spring felt, as it has finally sprung. Heidi noticed an elderly man standing at the end of her driveway, right near her dogwood tree. "Nice morning for a walk", the man said to Heidi, as she strolled with Mimi in tow, down her driveway. " It certainly is, I am so glad spring has sprung," Heidi said as she smiled at the man. He was a cute little elderly man, he had on a baseball cap, and barely stood at 5'3. She had not remembered seeing the man before, possibly he was a new neighbor. Of course, Heidi really didn't know too many of her neighbors, she had only recently moved into her neighborhood, in the town of Ballyton. Ballyton, was where Heidi grew up, it was divided into four sections, Northside, Eastside, Westside, and Southside. Heidi had moved up to the Northside quarter of town, she had grown up on the Westside of town. Each quarter has its own array of businesses, neighborhoods, flower arrangements, and trees. Ballyton, was the perfect town to raise a family, it had always been family oriented, as reflected in its businesses, and town activities. Heidi had noted a sign for the town Easter egg hunt. She thought back to times of her childhood, how much fun it had been, participating along with her friends in the hunt. Oh, to be able to go back to those days, when life was easier. Heidi, was now middle aged, and although she still was preserved in her youthful vigor.....she certainly could feel the signs of age, creeping in. Especially, during her morning walks with Mimi. It sometimes took all her strength just to walk Mimi, and keep her from dashing out after a squirrel or a bird. Heidi had thrown her dark brown hair, into a messy bun that morning, as she wiped a stray strand of hair away from her eye. She continued down the block at ease, taking in all the budding trees, and noting the happy playful Robin birds, as they hopped back and forth chasing one another, as they happily chirped songs of life. For Heidi, the most peaceful place she knew was out nature watching. The birds, and animals, and trees all sang together it seemed, as the spring breeze carried their melodies through the air, and they brought such peaceful memories with their chorus of nature, to Heidi's heart. Heidi then noticed an elderly couple pushing what appeared as a young women, in a wheelchair. More new neighbors, Heidi had pondered to herself. The man and woman both stood about five feet, and the wheelchair seemed to be almost as big as the frail women who pushed it. That must be their daughter, Heidi thought as she gave them a smile, and a good morning. The elderly couple returned her greeting with smiles as well. All how cute they are together, Heidi also has thought. What a nice little family. Heidi could see her house in site, she dwelled in a ranch level, stone house. Heidi had loved her new home, it was perfect for the three of them. Heidi, her husband Michael, and Mimi her German Shepard child, who was already nearing 90 lbs, at a year old. All was well in her sight, and her reason for living, had been renewed after the deaths of both her parents, which left her heartbroken. Heidi had two grown children as well, however, one had gotten married and now lived states away, while the younger was living with her friends, more estranged from Heidi, than connected. Her children had a rough childhood, Heidi's first marriage was laced in dysfunction, and abuse, and both of her children went to live with her parents on the Westside of Ballyton. Heidi had always felt more like a big sister to her children rather than a mother. Still she would spend as much time over at her parents house, as she could. She loved her family, and there was no greater place for her to be, except in the warm townhome located on the Westside of Ballyton, that had been her parents, and her own childhood home. Her mother had died seven years prior to her father. Things had been very rough after her mother's death, Heidi struggled with bouts of depression that left her crippled in bed, for sometimes weeks at a time. Then she met Michael, while her father was still alive. However, the residue of her mother's death, had glazed over what once was a happy joyful place, turning it into a more gloomy dwelling, even her father, was not the same, his heartbreak was also Heidi heartbreak. The pleasant memories had brought more pain and grief, due to the fact that now they were memories, and memories meant, it was a space in time, that could not be gone back to. Despite how badly we wanted to jump back to those times. Sometimes we really don't understand just how precious our moments are, until they become memories, Heidi thought. The one thought that eased her sadness, was that she could have these pleasant memories, rather than ones tainted in corruption. Lord knows, a lot of external forces, had worked overtime, with the hopes of corrupting Heidi's memories. Hell, they worked hard to tear the love apart that Heidi had for her family, as well as their love for Heidi. Heidi's Lord was stronger and greater, and love always prevails. "Hey weirdo," said Michael playfully, " Did Mimi have a nice walk, did she do a big dumper for you," Michael asked through giggles. " She sure did, and I bagged it up for you, I figured you would want it with your morning eggs." she said, through her own laugh. "Oh great my favorite bacon, eggs, and doggy do", laughed Michael. Heidi made her way over to the kitchen sink where she proceeded to wash her hands, as she looked out the window, she saw what appeared as a young man leaving her yard. That's strange, she thought, what would that man be doing in her backyard, she wondered. " Hey Hun, have you noticed anyone out back, I just saw a young man and it looked like he was leaving out of our yard?" Heidi asked her husband. " I saw an elderly man earlier, standing at the end of our driveway, when I first went out with Mimi. He was right by the dogwood tree." Heidi added. " No dear, I have not seen or heard anyone out back, or out front. I think you may be just overreacting. The man was probably resting at the end of the driveway, and possibly someone was playing out back and got a ball stuck in our yard, that they had to get." Michael reassured her. " Nothing to get upset about, this is a nice neighborhood, I'm sure it's nothing more than your mind working overtime. "Give it a rest, and take a break. Eggs and dog doody sound pretty good right now,"Michael added hinting at his hunger, and desire for Heidi to make breakfast. " Eggs, and doody it is Sir", Heidi jokingly said back. Heidi started breakfast, as the sound of the news filled the air. The news talked about the same thing, bad politics, and healthcare reaching new goals in the treatment of the Kora virus. The Kora virus had dominated the news, for about two years now, many got sick and died from it. That was how Heidi lost her father, he got sick with the Kora virus, and due to his age, he was unable to get better, and he succumbed to the virus. That was two years ago, but she still remembers the day like yesterday. The two worst days of Heidi's life was the day her mother died, and the day her father died. Heidi had dreaded the day she would have to bid them farewell. Death is so sad, how can we have these beautiful, loving forces, in our life, that end up having to go away. If there was any reason to believe in another world after death, it was for that reason alone, beautiful, loving forces would always be waiting to be reunited with their beloved. Heidi knew her mom and dad were reunited. At times she found herself, longing to be reunited with them, wherever they would be.
