Hide Heidi Chapter 8

1097 Words
The sun greeted Heidi through the window as she awoke from her sleep. The Ativan really had knocked her out last night. She needed that rest, her nerves were on edge still. She couldn't escape what she heard by the voices. She couldn't escape the fact, that her privacy was being invaded, even if no one else would believe it. What about all the oddities taking place, she couldn't escape those things either. Heidi proceeded to throw her hair into a ponytail, and got her shoes, and sweatshirt on, making herself ready to walk Mimi. It was a beautiful spring morning, the birds were singing, and the smell of blooming, flowering buds filled the air. This will be a good day, maybe I can catch a break, and not deal with the harassing voices, thought Heidi. It was a hopeful thought. She has decided she wasn't gonna let anyone drive her peace, and stability from her. She would fight to maintain it, even if it meant, putting on her happy face, and starting the day, as if those things, hadn't been a hindrance to her. A brand new day, a brand new start, she thought. Mimi, was always so happy on her walks, she loved that time with Heidi, and Heidi had loved that time with Mimi. Mimi had become Heidi's loyal companion. She had really helped Heidi, through some dark days, when getting out of bed was too strenuous. Mimi had provided much needed therapy, simply by being there for Heidi to care for. Now, Heidi had a reason to get out of bed, she had something to care for, a responsibility, and Heidi functioned much better when she had responsibilities, and a daily routine. Mimi had provided both of those things for her. Now, Heidi felt like after taking ten steps forward, she just took eight steps back again. Her clarity of mind was becoming shadowed with confusion, and doubt seemed to be creeping around the little bit of hope that Heidi still carried. She could hardly believe that she was being targeted by some weird group of seniors. What did Heidi ever do, other than not picking up a few poops!? As Heidi, stepped outside, with Mimi, she inhaled in the morning spring cool air. The smell of musty Earth filled the air. Morning dew was on the grass, trees, and budding flowers, and mulch could be smelled wafting through the air. What a beautiful day, Heidi thought. This is the reason why we are alive, to take in the beauty of the seasons, and be refreshed in the rebirth of spring energy. After inhaling the Earth, and receiving a boost of confidence, through familiar spring fragrances; nothing would stop Heidi today, she thought. She would even be kind to those not dealing so kindly with her. This was the energy she was receiving while on her morning walk. It was a revitalizing energy, that made her thankful for life, even through her experiences. Heidi proceeded to her favorite spot of her walk, through the park. So far so good, no white Cadillac Escalade, no black Escalade, no creepy tinted out sedans were seen. As she walked through the park she noticed a little old man sitting on the bench. " We missed you last night for your walk", he said softly to Heidi as she walked near. " Oh really, well who is we, and what makes me so special to be missed by strangers", " If you think I'm gonna let you run me in the ground as crazy, while you and your we, stalk, and harass me without witness, you are sadly mistaken." Heidi firmly stated. " I will not be trampled on, and used for your harassing charades." Heidi again stated. " This is gone far enough, aren't you even concerned about invading my privacy, and the trouble you could be in." she asked. " Worry Smurry, it takes too much time to do that, and time is limited." the man answered. " You seem to have more to worry about Mam, than an old man like me who has lived, and now awaits to die." he declared. " We do take a very special interest in you, in fact, your whole family fascinated us.", " Oh by the way, we go way back." the man added with glee. " Who are you", Heidi asked. "My name is Dr Ross, and I am your leader, even if you weren't aware of having one." the man said with a chuckle. " Also, our group are the proud new owners of PA", the man added spitefully. " I can tell you one thing mam, a new law will be implemented, in the discardment of canine fecal matter.", "We have too many complaints about lazy dog owners, isn't that something, no one ever wants to clean the crap, just drop it right," the man chuckled as he spoke to her. "Well make all the laws you want, after all, death awaits right," Heidi sarcastically answered back. She wasn't about ready to let some old bat harass her, and spite her to her face. Oh no, she would get sassy right back, for she wasn't afraid of any of them. Heidi, kindly gave departing salutations to the old man, and continued along her way. That was hard, Heidi thought, I really felt like telling him to kiss my dogs ass, she thought. So was this what would await her every morning, some random old man, or woman only out to harass her. Getting their kicks for the day, at Heidi's expense, she thought. Sitting but not sitting, watching and spying, all while appearing to be a cute frail elderly person. What a great disguise, Heidi thought, who would ever believe her, that the elderly had a coalition against her! On her way back up her street, she saw what appeared to be that young man resembling Matthew. He was walking the opposite direction away from Heidi's, going back towards the old Grant house. " Hey, excuse me," Heidi yelled to him. He quickly turned around, and then he sped off, not allowing himself to be called out. Great she thought, I really would like a word with him, why did he run away, is he scared? Heidi wondered. Soon she was back inside with Mimi, and inhaling her greeting scents of cinnamon vanilla this time. It's good to be back inside, thought Heidi. For a brief minute, she had forgotten, that her home, hadn't been as safe, as a haven, as she had thought.
