A stormy night

"Finally! I think I managed to light up the fire. " - Ana Maria said, with relief " It's freezing here" "I can not believe that you still keep this old farm. Why don't you sell it or something? " Isabella asked while getting the food over the table, making light with her cell phone, due to the lack of electricity.   "You don't know my grandfather. He would give to charity all of his wealth, before giving up this farm. This place is very important to him."  "Oh finally the fire is starting to get bigger, my battery is almost dead"  Both girls, sat down on the old comfortable couch, staring at the fireplace.  "This place is scary" - Isabella said crawling as much as she could after the back at the sofa. The old farm and the scary thunderstorm indeed created an atmosphere of fear and mystery.  "Don't worry, I closed the windows and locked down the doors. There are not many people left in this town, and those who are would not even dare to approach this property. My grandfather's reputation keeps us safe" - Ana Maria said chuckling, trying to cheer her best friend up.  "Why don't your grandfather make at least some much-needed renovation around here, since he loves this farm so much? I mean, there is not even electricity. "He likes to keep things exactly as they were before my grandmother died"  "Oh... well that's kind of romantic ... and sad"  " Yeah... mostly sad, I am not very sure about the romance part" - Ana Maria said under her breath, but Isabella did not pay attention to her. As the fire was now lighting up the entire room, she could see the big painting standing in the center of the room. The girl in the painting was absolutely stunning, she had long blonde hair, delicate features, and milky skin. She was wearing a light white long dress, her curves looked so elegant and beautiful. But what attracted the most attention was her eyes. There were beautiful deep forest green and looked sad. The beauty of the woman was breathtaking, but it also gave a vibe of great sadness and sorrow. It almost brought Isabelle into tears.  ""Who is this girl? I have seen her painting all over this God-forgotten town. It was in the coffee shop, at the place we bought food, even painted on the wall. They even had painted her with angel wings. Is she a saint or something? " "Almost. She is my grandmother, Anna Maria. My father named me after her." "Your grandmother? Wow... She was so beautiful, like an angel" - she said in one breath. "Yeah... but her beauty was her curse. She had such a miserable life, she suffered tremendously, even though she did not deserve anything that happened to her... You know the elders in this town still mourn her death and sing songs about her. I guess regret is stronger than any other feeling. " "Really? .. What do they regret? " " How they treated her...she did not have only the look of an angel, she had the soul of one too. My grandfather never married after her" "But she must have died so young" "Living without her was his biggest punishment. Not all his money and power could bring her back to him. I think he is the saddest man I have ever known" "Tell me, what happened to her? Now I am curious" "It's a long story... very dark, I must warn you" "Well it's dark, it's raining and we are out of electricity. All I have is time. Please tell me"  Ana Maria took a long breath.  "Well, it all began a long time ago. It was a terrible storm, just like this one"
