My eyes were teary as I looked up to Lyon. He was helping me with my wounds as I sat down, and my sister's son ran to where I was.
"Alexia!" He hugged me. He was a sweet five-year-old. He had no features of my sister, so I imagined him in his face. I imagined the beast that made my sister soar. I remember vividly the story my sister had told me. When she told him she was pregnant that day, he had not only rejected her, but his family made sure to curse her and made her life miserable. She was labeled a witch and bad blood to the community. They cooked up a story about how the child in her womb was an abomination and a curse. It was forbidden for an Alpha to have anything to do with someone who doesn't have royalty in her blood. So, my sister and her child were both labeled as an abomination, and it was declared that they should be killed. My sister was to be killed, but she escaped. So, it was assumed that she and her unborn baby were already burnt alive.
"Alexia! Alexia! What are you thinking about?" Lyon looked at me, his brows furrowed, his eyes wide, and his face a little bit pale. He was worried about me.
"Nothing... Thank you for helping with my wound. I will see you around. Come on, Scar, let's go." I grabbed Scar's wrist, and he ran back to Lyon.
"I want to stay with Uncle Lyon," Scar muttered.
"Well... You can't. Your mom wants to see you, but Lyon will take us home." Lyon left to start his chariot, and we hid at the back. That was the safest way back home.
Lyon took us home safely. Scar, on the other hand, ran immediately when he saw his mom, and they both headed inside.
"Heyyyy... How about you come back with me, and I treat your wound properly? After all, you are just going to be sitting in your room alone." Lyon's words were disheartening. My face was downcast, and my eyes seemed a bit glazed over.
"What's with that look? I didn't mean it that way." Lyon noticed how my facial expression changed when he made that statement.
"It's fine... I will come with you. I want to speak to you about something," I said.
"Okay then. Let's go."
"I will be at the back of the cottage. I don't want any more wounds from the villagers." I sighed and climbed the back of the cottage. While I sat at the back, my heart started to race. I finally wanted to tell Lyon what I have been harboring for weeks now. I had thought so much about it, and it was the right thing to do.
"Alexia..." Lyon called out.
"Yeah..."
"If the moon goddess comes down to give you one wish, what would it be?" Lyon was asking a question that was difficult for me to answer. The moon goddess has always been my refuge. My sister told me how she sent someone to save her from being burnt alive, and since then, I believed she could do anything for me.
"I want revenge!" I sighed. Lyon's scoff was loud, showing how uninterested he was with whatsoever I was about to say next.
"What was that?"
"Isn't it tiring? Trying to bear a burden in your heart that has nothing to do with you, giving yourself so much emotional damage and pain! It's enough!" Lyon narrowed his eyes.
"What do you mean has nothing to do with me? Lyon! That's my sister. She's my blood. The moment he ruined her life, he ruined my life too. Have you seen the way my sister looks at me? What about Scar? She gave him such a horrible name because he reminds her of his father! Who is at fault then?" I yelled in frustration.
"So what if his name is Scar? She still shows her son so much love."
"What about me? Did I ever do anything wrong for her to hate me like that?"
"When did she ever say she didn't love you, when? Alexia, you are worrying over nothing," Lyon said.
"I disagree. What if? What if he didn't reject my sister and make her suffer like that? Do you know how easy life would have been for her? Do you know how happy she will be? I have never seen my sister smile properly. She channels all her anger to me. And what about him? He is now an Alpha in his pack, happy and living his best life," I frowned.
"What if he doesn't know Alexia is still alive? Have you ever thought of that?"
"Lyon... His father ordered that my sister and her child should be burnt alive, and he supported it. He did nothing about it. I want revenge. I want to make my sister's dream come true, seeing them all in pains like they did to my sister, making them suffer the way I suffer in the hands of our pack members. If I can accomplish that, then I will take my sister and Scar far away to start life afresh. Lyon! Life will be better that way. My sister has her closure, and I have the happy family I have always wanted." I sighed, trying to catch my breath.
"Wow! So what do you want to do now?" Lyon asked, and I moved closer to him.
"I want to disguise. I need to be in his palace. I want to be the enemy that they harbor in their camp, tormenting them slowly." I smiled only at the thought of it.
"Alexia... This is too much. You are too weak for what you plan to do," Lyon said.
"What do you mean?" I frowned.
"Remember you have no wolf anymore. So how do you plan on defending yourself?" Lyon asked, and I looked away in pain.
"Why do you have to bring that up?"
