CHAPTER 5: Adrian –––––––– Oh, this was perfect. Ellie was jealous and that meant she wanted him. Adrian was going to use this to make sure she was back in his bed tonight. Unfortunately, that meant he had to drink. He grimaced as he stared at the shot. He’d had more than enough alcohol. Ellie had been brutal. She’d caught every smart-assed thing he’d said and labeled it as arrogant. Harker had tried to side with him as often as he could, but Adrian was an admittedly cocky guy. “Drink.” Ellie pushed the shot glass closer to his hand, almost spilling it before picking up the bottle. “Hurry up, you’ve gotta drink twice for being rude.” The bottle swayed with her arm. “Okay.” Ellie smiled. It was wide and honest, lighting up her face but all his drunk, horny mind could see was her opening those lips and sliding her pink tongue up his c**k. He forced that thought aside. First, get her to go home with him. Second, get her to suck his d**k. “On one condition.” “Figures, he’d have a condition,” muttered Alison. “That wasn’t nice.” He grinned at Harker. “He’s right. It wasn’t.” Harker took the tequila from Ellie and put it in front of Alison’s lips. “Drink.” She opened her mouth and then closed it quickly before he could tip up the bottle. “Wait. I don’t have to be nice to him.” “Still sharp even when sloshed.” Harker smiled. Alison smiled back. “Thank you...Hey, I’m not drunk.” “It still wasn’t nice,” Adrian muttered. “Sorry,” said Alison. “Don’t be sorry. He deserves it,” said Ellie. “That isn’t nice.” Harker handed the tequila to Ellie. “You drink.” “Fine but he drinks first.” She took the bottle. “Only if you agree to my condition.” More than likely they’d end up together. An evening of flirting and drinking stacked the odds in his favor, but there was still a chance she’d refuse him. He couldn’t let that happen to his d**k. It’d been looking forward to a repeat with Ellie for a week. “Fine.” She said it like he was the most exasperating person on the planet. “What’s your condition?” “If you’re wrong you go home with me tonight.” “Oh...” Alison leaned forward. “This is getting good.” “There’s no way I’m going home with you, not even on a bet,” said Ellie. “You’re afraid to lose because you know you’re wrong.” He’d play on her competitive personality. “Wrong about what?” “Wrong about anything.” “Anything?” Harker butted into the conversation. “That’s kind of vague.” “I thought we were on the same side.” He didn’t need logic. He needed her. “I don’t join a losing team.” Harker shrugged. “Try harder next time.” “I told you he was a jerk.” Alison shoved Harker’s shoulder. “I see what you mean.” Suddenly, he and Alison were on the same team. “Why thank you, Alison. I think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever called me,” said Harker. “I’ve never called you anything bad.” Alison lowered her voice a little and leaned closer to Adrian. “Not when he was close enough to hear me.” “You have the voice of a Roman orator,” said Harker. “I don’t think that’s a compliment.” Alison laughed and Harker grinned. “Uh, oh.” Ellie slapped Adrian’s arm. “You’re in trouble now. Your girlfriend is coming over here.” “My girlfrie...” s**t. Colin, Paige and her friends headed their way. He had to do something fast. He pushed the shot glass toward Ellie. “Drink. You were mean.” “You were rude. You drink twice.” She pushed it back, tequila sloshing over the side. “Agree to my condition”—he lifted the glass—"and I will.” “I can’t swear I was right about everything.” “What a surprise coming from the little liar,” he muttered. “I’m not a liar.” She made a face at him. “Okay. How about this?” He had to sell this and he had to do it fast. “If you were wrong about something that you made me drink for, then you come home with me tonight.” “Wrong about you being arrogant? Ha. Fine.” He wanted to shout in triumph. She was his. She stopped his hand before he tossed back the drink. “On one condition.” “What’s that?” His senses heightened like he was on patrol. It was just like life to dangle everything he wanted right in his face before snatching it away. “Even if I was wrong about something—which I wasn’t—I only go home with you if you don’t do anything to annoy me for the rest of tonight.” “Don’t agree to that,” said Harker. “The way you walked annoyed her earlier.” “That’s because he’s so arrogant,” said Ellie. “I can’t help how I walk. And why were you watching me? Were you checking out my ass?” He leaned closer. “I’ll let you touch it if you’re nice.” “See? See how he is?” Ellie stared at the other two. “Last chance.” His sister and her friends had stopped to chat with some other young women, but they were moving again. “If you want me to drink, agree to go home with me. Unless you’re afraid of losing.” “I’m not afraid because I won’t lose. I’ll take your bet. I go home with you if I made you drink when I shouldn’t have, and you don’t do anything stupid or annoying.” She touched his arm, stopping his protest. “And the other two have to agree that it was stupid or annoying.” He glanced at Harker. He needed to know if he could count on the guy. Harker nodded slightly. “Deal.” He held out his hand and she shook it. His night was set as soon as he got rid of Paige. His eyes darted toward his sister. “I can’t believe you’re still checking her out.” Ellie gave him a disgusted look. “I’m not checking her out. I swear.” He chuckled. “Now, who’s lying?” Ellie’s tone was disgusted. “Not me.” “Just drink.” She picked up the bottle of tequila. He tossed back the shot. She filled it again and he shivered. He didn’t want another drink, but his sister was only a few feet away. He downed the shot and dropped the glass on the table. “Done. I drank twice because you said I was rude.” “You were.” “Was I?” He stood. “Is it rude to watch out for your baby sister in a club like this?” “Your sister?” Ellie turned as Paige and her friends moved closer. She glanced at Alison and Harker. “His sister?” Alison shrugged. “Salut.” Harker raised his glass, a half-smile on his face. “Adrian,” Paige ran up to him. “I’m ready to leave but this dork”—she pointed at Colin—“won’t let me until I clear it with you.” “Where are you going?” “There’s a party on campus. Mom doesn’t need you chaperoning me for a party on campus ” “That’s right. She doesn’t”—his gaze met Ellie’s and even he’d admit he probably looked pretty damn cocky right now—“which means I have the entire night free.” Harker laughed and Ellie looked like she was going to puke.
