CHAPTER 11: Adrian –––––––– Adrian followed after Ellie, ready to throttle Alison. He stopped at the table where Harker stood filling champagne glasses. “Here.” Harker handed one to Ellie. Alison grabbed one too, tossing it back before reaching for the bottle of champagne. “You want more?” Harker yanked it away from her. “Ask nicely.” “You’re an ass.” Alison put her glass on the table and took Harker’s full one. Adrian stopped behind Ellie, pulling her back into his arms where she belonged. “You still have a few minutes to find your partner for that midnight kiss,” said the DJ over the music. “I’ve got mine and I’m ready for a kiss and everything else.” That last part was more than obvious with his erection pressing against that sexy ass of hers. “Yeah. Uh.” Ellie moved away from him. “What’s wrong now?” He’d about had it with her hot and cold routine. “Nothing.” She smiled at him, but it was forced. “I...I’ve had a little too much to drink.” “Me too. So what?” She touched his arm with the tips of her fingers. “I...I think that I should go home.”’ “Great. I’ll go with you.” He moved closer to her. She wasn’t going to bail on him, not tonight, not after rubbing that lush ass against his c**k for the last fifteen minutes. “Alone. I’m drunk.” “Too drunk to keep your word?” “What?” “You agreed to go home with me.” He wasn’t a fan of blackmail but all’s fair in s*x and war. “Ah...I know but...” She moved closer to him, her voice lowering, “What we almost did on the dance floor, that’s not me.” “It sure felt like your ass rubbing against my dick.” He almost groaned as the words left his lips. This wasn’t the way to handle her but apparently, he didn’t have any blood leftover for brain functions. “You are such an ass.” She stepped away from him. “And you have a great one.” He tried to back pedal, but she wasn’t buying it. “Go away.” “Ellie, don’t do this.” He caught her arm before she could walk away. “Only a few seconds before the countdown starts. Grab your lover. Grab your friend. Just grab someone,” shouted the DJ. “Because the New Year is almost here.” “Get away from me.” She pulled free. “Come on.” He’d waited all night to be with her. He was at least getting this kiss. “You need me.” He smiled his most charming smile and moved closer to her. “I do not.” “Ten,” shouted the DJ. “You do.” “Nine.” The crowd joined the DJ for the countdown. “Who are you going to kiss?” he asked. “Eight.” “It’s too late to find someone else.” He was her only option. “Seven.” “It’s not that late.” Her eyes darted around the crowd. “Six.” He grinned. Everyone had already paired off. “Five.” “It looks like it’s just me and you.” He stepped closer to her. “Four.” She frantically searched the crowd. He was starting to get insulted. “Three.” “It’s only a kiss.” He turned her toward him. “One quick kiss.” “Two.” He lowered his head. He had every intention of making this one hot kiss that’d start here and end in his bedroom. “One! Happy New Year!” shouted the crowd. She was his. He reached for her, but she spun around, grabbing Alison and kissing her.
