CHAPTER 34: Ellie
––––––––
“You have six sisters?” Ellie couldn’t even imagine that. “Don’t get me wrong, I love my sister and brother but four more of them would’ve made me crazy.”
Adrian laughed. “It was rough sometimes, but it has its upside too.” He turned on the blinker and pulled into a gas station.
She glanced at the clock on the car stereo. They’d been driving for a half hour. Time had flown by. She had to admit that he was fun to talk to. She was in a much better mood than she’d been in earlier today.
A text message beep sounded from her purse and her good mood vanished. She didn’t even want to think about Marc right now. She glanced at her phone as she pulled her wallet from her purse. Her good mood returned. Alison had texted her, not Marc.
Adrian pulled up to the gas tanks and turned off the car before opening the door.
“Here’s some money for gas.” She held out a twenty.
“I got it.”
“Please. It’s the least I can do.” Marc never balked at taking her money. Actually, he’d become accustomed to it.
“I don’t need your money.”
“I know you don’t need it but—"
“I don’t want it either.”
“Please, take it.” She was so used to paying for everything that she hadn’t heeded the change in Adrian’s tone. “You’re going out of your way to—”
He grabbed her chin and leaned toward her.”It’s not your money I want.”
“Ah...” Her eyes dropped to his lips. They were so close and so...kissable.
“I will never accept your money.” His eyes dropped to her mouth. “But I will gladly...eagerly...accept other forms of payment.”
“I’m not paying you with sex.” That was her pride speaking, not her body. It was tingling in all the right places and more than willing to barter.
“I suppose, I could settle for a kiss.” He moved closer, his breath tickling her lips.
She should stop him. She was not getting involved with another macho jerk, but it was just a kiss and she always paid her way. Her phone beeped and she jumped, looking down when it beeped again. Her friend was getting impatient.
“I guess you’d better get that.” He was not happy.
As soon as Adrian got out of the car she could breathe again. It was like the man had stolen all the air, making her lightheaded, woozy even. She inhaled deeply, clearing her head. What in the hell had she been thinking? She couldn’t kiss him no matter how much she wanted to. Her head was clear of passion, but her body still hummed. The man was only a few feet away at the pump and his ass looked yummy in those jeans. They were slightly faded and worn, conforming perfectly to his hips and butt. She wanted to unbutton those pants and feel him grow beneath her fingers. Then she’d unzip him, letting her knuckles graze his d**k before pushing down those jeans and his underwear. She’d grab that nice ass with both hands, pulling him close to where she ached. He’d feel so good pressed hard and hot against her. Her phone beeped, breaking her out of her daydream. She sighed trembling slightly.
She needed to quit thinking like that or she was going to suggest they stop at one of those cheap hotels or even pull into a wooded area and get it on. Her phone beeped again, and she pulled it from her purse. Time to see what was so bloody important.
ALISON: Merry Christmas. How did it go last night?
ALISON: You can’t still be sleeping. Call me. I NEED to know how last night went. I’m dying here.
ALISON: I’m at my mom’s house. She’s asking about my love life. I need to send her off the scent with yours. Give me bait, woman.
ALISON: Seriously. Text me back. I’m getting worried.
ALISON: Text me now. Not kidding. Or I’ll call your mom.
She sighed and texted.
ELLIE: I’m fine. Can’t talk. Call you later.
ALISON: Thank God you’re okay. I was getting ready to call 911.
Ellie shook her head. Her friend was the most annoying person she knew.
Adrian tapped on the window and then opened her door, putting his arm on the roof and leaning down by her. “I’m going inside. You wanna come?”
This was not helping. She’d been about ready to come just thinking about this man and now her olfactory senses were shoving her down memory lane. He smelled like fresh air and some outdoorsy, masculine scent. Last night, it’d surrounded her as she’d orgasmed—his hot body on top of hers, inside hers, giving her the most exquisite pleasure, his lips kissing her neck....and leaving a hickey. “No. I’ll wait here.”
“You know, you can come with me more than once.” His green eyes sparkled mischievously.
“You did not just say—”
“If we stop again you can come with me...inside that store too.” A smile spread across his handsome face. “What did you think I meant?”
“You know...” Her phone beeped again. “Go. I’ll wait here.”
“You sure? You don’t have to pee or anything?”
“No, I don’t.” Correction. Alison was the second most annoying person she knew.
