“Have you seen Elara this morning?” Kai asked his brothers, with a little bit of concern in his eyes.

“Yes, I have, I met her before she left for school, why?” Zayn said, focusing on his plate fully.

“Ohh…I see someone is already making his moves” Kai said with a smirk on his lips.

“I really want to see which of you wins the girl, I love the thrill of the competition” Calix said darting his eyes between his two brothers.

“And what about you? Are you really not interested?” Zayn said with a slight furrow in his brows.

“Of course I’m interested, I’m very much attracted to her, and I’m crazy about her just like both of you. My plan is to be a best friend, and to love her from a distance” Calix replied slowly and sluggishly.

“Why would you want that?” Kai said, utterly confused.

“That’s because he feels like it’s only one of us that’s mated to her but our bond as triplets is making us share that one person’s feelings” Zayn replied and Kai slowly nodded in realization.

“And I clearly know, I’m not the one” Calix said, without a hint of worry in his face.

“I’ll go to the school, and see if Elara is doing okay, wanna come along?” Kai said to Zayn, as he wiped his mouth with a napkin.

“No, I’ll let you have this one, I cuddled her last night and I saw her this morning. We’re even on the scoreboard” Zayn said smiling mischievously and three of them laughed.

“So there’s a scoreboard now?” Kai said smiling amusingly.

“Yes, there is and I’m keeping records” Calix replied, excited.

They’ve always loved competing against themselves, but it was mostly Zayn and Kai. Calix was more of a bystander, a lazy one at that, he never involved himself except it was absolutely necessary and important for him too.

“Of course you are” Zayn retorted. “And if you bribe him this time Kai, I’ll take half of your score”

“If you find out I bribe him” Kai said and walked out of the dining room.

“See you later, Zayn” Calix said standing up too.

And by the way, father wants to see you to talk pack business, tell him I went out too” Calix continued, walking out of the dining hall.

“Where are you going?” Zayn raised a brow.

“To my room, to lounge” Calix said lazily.

“You’re too lazy to be an Alpha, Calix” he said after a soft chuckle.

“I know, that’s why I have you” Calix said finally and left.

Zayn walked through the hallways, and went to his father’s office where he usually is during the day.

“Good morning, Father” Zayn said walking into the room and taking a sit.

“We have a problem” Alpha Lennox said with deep worry in his eyes.

“What’s the problem?” Zayn said.

“The border patrol on the east side, where gunned down this morning and our lands were infiltrated. I think one of the four lands are moving towards us, I think someone wants to start a war.” Alpha Lennox said and Zayn’s grip tightened on the arm rest, his jaw clenching.

“A war? What is it this time? Three years ago, the war cost the four lands everything what more are they searching for? This time is it to reclaim the moonstone?” Zayn asked very confused about the currents situation.

“They think we’re weak, without that alliance, they think our bloodline has lost its edge and that we’re distracted enough to strike” Alpha Lennox said, and bow his head like there was more to be said.

“They want to claim our lands?” Zayn said with worry filled in his eyes.

No one has ever tried to claim the land of Roxanne in up to fifty years after their grandfather Alpha Edward signed a treaty with other Alphas.

“This is war, Zayn. I need you and your brothers to get your heads straight and prepare for war. And about Elara, keep her close she is now a liability” Alpha Lennox said and Zayn was still processing.

“I’ll speak to Kai and Calix. Don’t worry, Father we will get past this. I’ll speak to the generals and local law.

We’ll set curfews and do a full sweep of our territory, no one that doesn’t belong here will remain” Zayn said reassuring his father.

“I’ll meet with the council today concerning all this, you and your brothers should handle the matter discreetly and amicably, I don’t want panic spreading across our lands” Alpha Lennox instructed.

“Yes, Father” he replied and walked out of the room straight to Calix’s room.

Immediately, he picked up his phone and dialed Kai’s number.

“Zayn, what’s up?” Kai said, still focusing on driving.

“Have you gotten to Roxanne High?” Zayn said with a serious tone.

“Not yet, but I’m close” Kai replied noticing how serious his brother was.

“When you get there, bring Elara back home it’s not safe” he said.

“What’s going on, Zayn?” Kai said very worried.

“We have intruders in our lands” Zayn said, his tone heavy

“Elara might be a target”
