Chapter 5

“Calix, go call Father” Zayn said as he paced back and forth in the room, like he knew exactly what was going on.

“No…I can’t leave you both here with her, Kai should go” Calix said, and they all nodded in agreement.

In few moments, Kai was back with Alpha Lennox. When the Alpha stepped into the room, he immediately noticed the tension.

Alpha Lennox exhaled like the weight of the world pressed down on his shoulders.

“The day I’ve been dreading for twenty-one years is finally here,” he said, his voice was low in the tension-filled room.

“She’s our mate, isn’t she?” Zayn said, and stopped pacing, as he clenched his fists.

The Alpha nodded slowly, his eyes pinned on me like I was both a miracle and a curse to his sons.

“But she’s not just a wolf, there’s something else because her scent, it’s not normal” Calix said, sniffing the air again.

Kai’s eyes widened slightly.

“It’s… fox. No. Kitsune.”

My knees nearly buckled.

“Kitsune? What the hell is that?” I said nervously, trying to understand the situation.

“Shapeshifter, rare, enchanted and dangerous. It means your wolf side was suppressed, maybe even hidden all this time.” Zayn muttered under his breath.

I backed up a little, panic bubbling in my chest.

“So what does that mean for me? For… this?” I gestured between the three of them and myself.

Alpha Lennox crossed his arms and took a deep breath before he replied.

“It means you’re stronger than we thought. Strong enough to possibly survive bonding with all three of them, but only if you’re willing. And even then… it would come at a cost.” He finally said.

“What cost?” I asked, my voice trembling.

“Your freedom. Your identity. Your heart. You’d be torn between three of us, unless you choose.” Zayn looked up, eyes gleaming red again.

And somewhere at the corner of the room, I could feel Calix, he was also getting restless and just kept staring at me. The mating bond had begun affecting him too.

A thick silence filled the room. My breath was ragged, and I could tell that I was panicking and slowly feeling dizzy.

“We won’t force you, you get to choose.” Kai finally said, voice unusually soft.

“But… how can I?” I breathed shallowly.

“You’re triplets, you’re connected, you feel the same pull.” I continued even if I couldn’t feel my feet on the ground anymore.

“I know, but if this is going to work, really work. It has to be your choice.” Kai added with a gentle tone in his voice.

I stared at all three of them, their expectant eyes soulful and terrifying. My wolf stirred in me, confused and overwhelmed by the pull of three bonds instead of one.

“I need time to understand what’s happening” I whispered under my breath.

I felt the world go dark and my feet gave up on me, different hands caught me and take me to Zayn’s bed.
