Claire was looking for Micheal after school. She was curious to know why he left so early yesterday even though she knew she would most likely not get an answer it wouldn't hurt to try asking.
She found him by his bike in the parking lot preparing to leave. Stephanie and Brittany were still busy so she had some free time.
" Hey." She said as she approached him.
" What do you want?" He snapped at her turning around to look at her.
" Sheesh I was expecting a hello or how you doing but I guess that's too much for you." She said crossing her arms.
" Yeah it is so can you leave me alone."
" No. The thing is am your angel so I can't really do that."
" My Angel"-
" Yeah the project stuff." She interrupted him." I am to lead you towards the light." She added.
" The light?"
" More like right path." She explained. " Not their kind any way." She gestured towards some students.
" You are kidding. Your exactly like them." He said, he wanted to get a reaction from her so she would actually be honest about why she's talking to him cause he wasn't buying this angel project stuff.
" So it seems but am different. I can prove it to you if we hang out tomorrow after school?"
" Sorry but am busy." He said getting on his bike and starting it.
" It will be fun plus I promise to leave you alone after tomorrow." She had to raise her voice to speak because of the mouse from the bike.
He knew she was lying about leaving him alone. She had always been a pest from when they were little, a pest he liked having around and after what happened yesterday he could actually let things become the way they used to be. He doubted if it was possible because he knew he had changed and she most likely would have too but he could give whatever she was trying to start a chance.
He looked at her standing there then said. "Sure, tomorrow." Before driving away.
Michael left Claire in shock. She couldn't believe he just agreed but she was happy he did.
Claire was walking with Sophie talking about everything and nothing at all when she felt a grip on her arm she turned to see it was who was dragging her away from a surprised yet angry looking Sophie.
" Sorry." Claire mouthed and then focused on where Micheal was taking her. She had been so preoccupied with Sophie she had almost forgotten that she was meant to go with Micheal after school.
" For an angel you're pretty forgetful." Micheal said snapping her back from her thoughts.
" I didn't forget. I just wanted to round things up with Sophie." She defended herself. " You do know dragging me away was rude."she added as they walked through school to the parking lot.
" Yeah but who cares you're the one who wants to do this anyway." He said handing her a helmet which she eyed before she took it.
He got on his bike motioning for her to the same .
" Am not one to drive slowly." He said to her and with that he drove out of the parking lot not slowing down just accelerating.
He was expecting her to scream but she kept her cool, her grip around his waist tightened and he guessed her eyes were closed.
Claire was beyond frightened. She was too scared she couldn't even scream she just tightened her grip around his waist at intervals and kept her eyes shut till she felt the bike come to a stop. She looked up to see the bright lights from the sign above the building that read Ice cream Wonderland.
This place had so much memories of her and Micheal with her grandma and his. She hadn't been here since he left and her grandma left too. They had both left her and her life had been boring, uneventful and sometimes she wondered if it was still her life.
She stared at the building remembering the happy memories made in it.
" Why here? " She asked Micheal." I thought you had forgotten." She added.
" I don't know"-
" Don't you dare say you don't know what am talking about Micheal." She snapped." Do you know what it feels like to watch your best friend treat you like a total stranger?"
Claire knew he had hurt her she just didn't know it hurts this much. Her heart ached as she stood in front of this place that had so much memories of her and him, in an empty parking lot and she just couldn't keep up the whole facade.
He was shocked by her outburst although he should had expected it when he decided to bring her here.
" Why Mikey?" She asked using the nickname she used to call him when they were little." Why?" She asked again not sure she wanted to hear the answer.
" Because am no longer Mikey." He said in a deep calm voice. "I've changed."
" Of course you're different it's been six years and we grew up but that's not an excuse, I want another explanation." Claire said in a stern voice while staring at Micheal.
" You don't get it do you?" He snapped. "Am not good for you. Not this version me." The aura around them was intense as Micheal stood a few meters away from her as he said those shocking words to Claire.
Claire hugged him, tears rolling down her cheek, tears she had been holding in for a while now.
She was shocked by what he said, she didn't want to loose her best friend again even if he thought he was a bad influence in her life she still wanted him around and felt bad he thought of himself as such.
" Next time let me decide what's bad and what's good for me and I know you are definitely the later." She whispered to him and a once stiff Micheal hugged her back in the parking lot of their favourite place as kids.
