I quickly changed into my comfortable shorts and loose fitting plain white T-shirt. I wasn’t having the best day, and I know for a fact the other cheerleaders aren’t going to take it easy on me. They never do. I ran out of the dressing room before the other girls made their way to the dressing room. I grabbed my shoes as I left. They are just plain white, cheer shoes. Nothing too fancy. I put them over my mix matched socks and started stretching. After I finished stretching the other girls were out here, but they were missing their leader and also known as the queen bee. She is the leader or captain of the cheerleaders. She hated me; however, I tried my best to ignore her. She is cold-hearted and cruel. Her names is Heather. She is really pretty though even if I don’t want to admit it. She is, also, better than most of the other cheerleader. She still, however, bullies and hates me.
“So did you hear about Josh?” Asked one of the cheerleader. Her name was Rachel. She was also pretty, but she was a b***h also. She dated Josh, the kicker for the football team, a couple of months again. She still isn’t over the break up from what I overhear.
“No! What about him?” Asked another cheerleader. Her name was Morgan. She has never said anything mean to me. She just shoots glares every now and then. She is prettier than me. Of course everyone on the team was. She is not as pretty as Rachel or Heather though.
“He was checking out me in the hall!” Rachel yelled. “ I swear he totally wants me back! He can't keep his eyes away!”
“Isn't he still dating Paige?” Morgan asked. Paige use to be a cheerleader, but she quit because she could not stand Rachel. She and I were growing close before she quit the team. After she quit she has not said a word to me. I really miss her here with me.
“Boom!” The door sounds as it was being slammed shut by Austin, and of course my coach wasn't here yet. He walks over to Heather and whispers something into her ear. She nods after he is finished. All the while I was still stretching. He begins to walk to me. Ain't that just f*****g great! NOT!
“It doesn't matter how much you stretch, you are never going to be flexible. You might as well just quit. You aren’t needed on the team. You're worthless, a piece of trash, nothing special. You're a nobody.” He says then chuckles to himself.
I, of course, ignore his complaints about me and continue stretching. I am not known to defend myself well. Like I said I am a better writer. I tried to ignore him, but he got down on his knees and grabbed my hair which was in a ponytail and pulled up. It brought tears to my eyes but I swear to myself I was never going to cry because of something he said or did, so I pushed them down and prepared for the worst.
“Did you not hear me? Answer me, b***h! Oh I forgot your voice is so horrible that you are afraid people might hear you!” he said chuckling. He walked out of the gym after he said that. I watched him leave with so much hatred in my eyes that I wish he would turn around and see. He was such a monster. What got me out of my stare was Heather was calling me by my name, which was surprising. I quickly got up and walked up to her.
We started our cheers. I am not going to lie. Our cheers were pretty good, but that was all because of the other cheerleaders and how good they are. They all moved with sharp motions and have strong voices that could carry. All together, we looked very put together.
After about 2 hours of practice we could go home. I was so thankful! After all those kicks and jumps, not to mention how fearful I was going up in a stunt that they would drop me, I was exhausted. See they have never dropped me before, but they always threatened to just to hear me doing something other than chants. You see, I would do chants because it was part of the team, and no matter how much the team didn't like me, I still wanted to do my part.
I went into the dressing room and just grabbed my clothes that I wore and ran out to the parking lot where my car was parked. Like I said today is not my day. I got into my car and tried to start it but it wouldn’t start. I got out of the car and looked under the hood. Eggs were smeared all in my engine. I figured Austin and his gang probably did much more to it, since the engine wouldn't even turn over but I was too frustrated to even check. I guess I’ll just walk.. Isn't high school great? I know I shouldn't feel so pity but I couldn't help it. I never asked for any of this! All the way home I was depressed.
