Down the winding road overshadowed by trees, Abbie drove, catching occasional glimpses of a river with rocks jutting out of the sparkling water. The mountains towered above, imposing and timeless. She pulled over to the side and got out to stretch her legs. The water rushed along, parallel to the road. Abbie walked down to the edge and breathed in the scent of fresh pines. She felt serene, a feeling she’d almost forgotten. She sighed and went back to the car. As she continued on her way, she kept her eye out for snow, but there was none yet.
